Went to vote as soon as the polls opened today, and the turnout was impressive. There was a long line of people behind me that would have stretched a block or so were my polling place not a middle school. That's way more than the past two presidential elections drew. The voting machine wouldn't eat the ballots though for some reason, but the volunteers working there assured people the votes would be counted.
I voted straight Democrat for the first time in my life.

VOTE DEMOCRAT

-
Vote early and vote often!
Elections in the UK also (http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=NfooAhrUJI0&feature=related) (2:00 onwards)
-
yeah I got there right as the poles opened as well. Lots of minorities and young people. Two things the repubs must hate to see
-
got there before 8 and the parking lot was almost full. plenty of machines though. and in my precinct was able to go straight on through... only one person ahead of me. more young folks than usual, good sign.
-
voting sucked. there were no gloryholes.
-
My polling location was seperated by wards. Luckily the line in my ward was short. I was in and out within 10 minutes. Can't say the same for Ward 1 though. Long lines.
Voted for Bob Barr.
-
I voted in northern VA and it took about half an hour, there were approx. 100 people in front of me.
voted Obama even though that political test that was on this board a month ago told me to vote for McKinney.
-
I'm going to vote as soon as I can pull myself out of bed.
I have to wander into a neighborhood that isn't the best to do it, which I'm not looking forward to. Will probably get mugged.
-
I'm still on the fence.
I hear this Obama fella went to Muslim War School (MWS).

If you don't know where your polling place is, type your home address here:

Just got back. Took about 10 minutes.
-
3 hours almost exactly. the guy behind me said "i haven't seen this maybe people in line to vote since Marion Barry got caught with crack and black people said 'we got to get this man back in office'."
-
I'm registered to vote in Ohio, so the lady and I did absentee voting there. Swing state and all.
First time in my life I have voted democrat.
The voting machine wouldn't eat the ballots though for some reason, but the volunteers working there assured people the votes would be counted.
There have been countless problems with voting machines already. NYTimes had a big article about how touch screens in VA automatically put full Repug ticket when you tried to vote Democrat. I hope people actually are going to do some sort of follow up on this to make sure that their votes are being counted or are at least ready to riot if the election is stolen again. There is no way that McCain wins without fraud.
-
took me about half hour - 45 minutes including walking to polling place and back to my apartment. my area is mostly immigrants without voting rights and lots of settlers who are probably registered elsewhere. the people that were there were mostly young though.
-
45 minutes in line in the rain. got there at 6:40 am to a line of about 30 people.
voted! i feel a wind of change a comin'.
-

I think the touch screen problems were in WVA, but if you turned on the news today you have probably heard about the problems in VA. Apparently a bunch of machines in south eastern VA aren't working, plus it's raining which makes it hard to process the paper ballots.
then there's this: "The NAACP sued the state over the allocation of resources. State law requires one machine per 750 voters. Assuming it takes 5 minutes to vote, it would take the 750 voters 62.5 hours to vote, so some of them will still be voting on Friday."
I'm pretty sure the lawsuit was tossed out.
-
You think it's over, but this thing is going to last for eternity.
-
I'm voting after work, hopefully the douchey networks won't have called it already. I'll never vote absentee, I like the gameday vibe and the slack-jawed vols at the polling stations.
I've got a bunch of local issues that are kind of important to me. Anytime I can vote vs. the local electric utility, on anything, I do it. It's a shame I can't vote for Chris Daly again, that guy is a total loon.
-
I think there needs to be a constitutional amendment that requires a paper trail for all voting machines. You realize that most voting machines keep no paper record, no receipt of your vote. It's all a complete crap shoot. There needs to be a standardized voting machine that is proven to work effectively and it needs to be the only legal one available in this country, and children need to have a sex ed style thing in school where they teach you how to use this machine, and they should do it several times throughout a child's education just in case they drop out early, or are expelled before they are old enough that they'll remember the shit once they turn 18. Just drill the shit into their heads and test them on it and shit.
-
Took ten minutes just now at noon.
-
I say if they have an issue they should just ask you afterwards. That way, I can collect some nice bribe money from a desperate politician.

Standardizing the machines is a really good idea! The one I used prints the ballot off so that you can look at it and approve it after it prints, but I know not all of them do that. I guess there's a lot of paper ballots being used this year.
-
Standardize the WHOLE FUCKING PROCESS, beginning to end ... I mean, have some national standards for presenting ID at the polls, get more voting machines where necessary, make the process for registration and/or early/absentee voting THE SAME in every state. Jesus, it's not that hard. It's like Zimbabwe here or something. So embarrassing.
-
(http://media.tumblr.com/mENCReW8Sfwahcq0h5id6Bd7o1_400.jpg)
What silly contraption is this?
I say fuck all machines. Bring back the paper ballot. I don't care if it takes longer to process. Plus a paper trail is easy...just make carbon ballots. Then every voter can walk away with a copy of his/her/his-her ballot in hand.
-
i just got back from the polls. took me longer trying to convince my boyfriend to vote than to actually mark the ballot. took me five minutes, which included registering. they used paper ballots, and my ward was in an old brick temple by the lake. super charming day for obama.
-
I'm registered to vote in Ohio, so the lady and I did absentee voting there. Swing state and all.
Way to swing Ohio, Kevin and Tina. Thank you!

There is some issue with having ID to vote. I don't really understand it, but apparently some people cannot afford IDs? I dunno? For this reason though I know you don't usually need an ID to vote.
Anyone who knows more about this than I wanna comment?
-
I think it's more of an issue of whether you'll have to present ID at the polling place or not, or what kinds of ID are acceptable. It varies from state to state whether you have to present ID or not. I guess there are quite a few people without some sort of state-issued ID like a driver's license. In Ohio you can use a current utility bill or something along those lines if you don't have an ID card or license.

This might be a little presumptuous now but...

Totally. Although I think the shit going down where I was at was an honest machine malfunction and not a manufactured one. We wrote our votes on something that looked like a scantron form you used back in school to take multiple choice tests and then they get fed into a counting machine. I don't understand why everyone doesn't switch to this method: you have the convenience of machines, but there's still a paper trail.
But yeah, if McCain wins it's obvious the fix was in. People would be PISSED. I'm still scared to get my hopes up after the past election. Fingers crossed!
EDIT: Wilford Brimley has looked 100 years old for my entire life. Wasn't he in that Ewok movie?

Because all it takes is a little scribbling outside the line to have your vote discarded. I was suggested a method last night that sounded pretty much perfect though. You have a machine that punches your choice so there is no "hanging chads" or discarded votes by messy fill ins, and then it prints out a card which is then fed into a counting machine. This way you have the paper trail, you can check to make sure that your vote was printed correctly before it is counted.

I voted on paper. I'm old school.

VOTED!
-
How long has it been taking everyone to vote today? And where were you voting? Just curious.
-
I voted in Carrollton, a middle-class suburb of Dallas an hour ago. There were maybe 6 people in the room besides the workers. It took less than 10 minutes. I had the option of electronic or paper, chose the electronic method out of curiosity. It wasn't complicated but I could see it causing confusion for the old farts. I got a recpeit with the access code I used to cast the ballot, it has the date, precinct, place and time, I guess I'm going to hold on to it just in case... I was deciding between Nader and Obama up until the second I chose straight Demoncrat ticket. Ugh, I wish I actually felt GOOD about my vote, but I just didn't get totally into Obama.
-
It only took me like ten minutes to vote. I walked right in the polling place (I live in a suburb of Buffalo now), I thought it would be packed. I was kinda disappointed. Somehow, in the ten minutes I spent inside, about 100 people showed up and there was a huge line out the door as I walked out though. A lot of young kids too. This will be the first election my little sister and her freinds have voted in, and they're all very excited about it (they're all in the 22-25 range). Pretty cool. Then there's my 55 year old father who still is not registered to vote and has never voted in his entire life.
Funniest part is as soon as you hit the '100 feet from polling location' sign or whatever it is, all the local politicians running for Village Justice and and shit are standing out there shaking hands and kissing babies....one dude tried to engage me in small talk and I recognized him as the guy who knocked my-talking-on-cellphone-while-driving ticket down to a parking ticket when I went to court for it. That got him my vote...
-
Took about 15 or 20 minutes to get through a line that snaked around the building then another 30 - 45 inside to actually get up to the booth and vote. Completely civil outside, total chaos inside.
-
I voted about 3 weeks ago, maybe 4? I know several other Americans living here that has voted in the past month as well. Fairly easy process.
-
5 min walk to the polls. 10 mins in line / at the poll. 5 min home. pretty fast.
i voted on the same archaic machine that aaron voted on. you have to pull this huge lever across the face of the contraption, then turn smaller knobs towards the name of your selected candidate. once you're done voting you have to pull the original lever back to its original position to lock and your votes and reset the smaller knobs for the next voter. seems like the process is completely mechanical so i assume someone's reading a counter on the back of the machine at the end of the night.

Apparently GA has touch-screen voting machines now.

CALL LIBERTY!!!
Remember when Wilford used to sound so agitated and begrudging when he said that? I loved that.
I voted in a precinct that is one of Sacto's most disenfranchised (lotsa non-citizens in this precinct) at 10:15, and there was still a line of about 15 people. When I saw my polling location on a map, I definitely expected there not to be a line.
As I left on my bike, I rode across the campus of City College, and there were two thug-life-lookin' homies signifying to each other across a parking lot. One yelled to the other "YO! THAT NIGGA GONNA BE PRESIDENT OR WHAT?!?"

Good luck to the Repubs w/ those lawsuits
Summary
The McCain-Palin campaign accuses ACORN, a community activist group that operates nationwide, of perpetrating "massive voter fraud." It says Obama has ?long and deep? ties to the group. We find both claims to be exaggerated. But we also find Obama has understated the extent of his work with the group.
* Neither ACORN nor its employees have been found guilty of, or even charged with, casting fraudulent votes. What a McCain-Palin Web ad calls "voter fraud" is actually voter registration fraud. Several ACORN canvassers have been found guilty of faking registration forms and others are being investigated. But the evidence that has surfaced so far shows they faked forms to get paid for work they didn?t do, not to stuff ballot boxes.
* Obama?s path has intersected with ACORN on several occasions ? more often than he allowed in the final debate.

My 15 minute walk each way to my polling place took longer than actually voting. Plenty of people but no actual lines. Had to re-register because I've moved since the primaries. Probably took about ten minutes total.

Summary judgment, lawsuit tossed.
Even with most conservative judges fact free, fictional narratives don't do well in court.
The Repubs have been unable to provide ONE link between ACORN and so-called voter fraud.
Are you sure that Gawker thing isn't a hoax? Looks real, but that site's notorious and I couldn't find anything at CNN.

It only took me 2 minutes.
-
Took me 5 minutes at noon.
I just did straight Democrat except for some local dude who had a Dago name. Voted independent against the dago.
Hate italians. Guess it doesn't help living in Pittsburghs "Little Italy" part of town.
-
I went to vote at 11am. The parking lot was empty, and when I walked in there was no line no waiting. I signed in, was handed my ballot, realized I didn't know shit about some of the Oakland issues (whoops), and was done (fucking up everyone's lives) in approx 5 minutes.
Our ballots are the 'complete the arrow' forms. So weird.

That's what we have in Green Bay. Had the scantron form this time for the Ohio absentee ballot. Found both really easy to use.

No idea if its a fake or not, looks like it's on CNN, but if you can't find it then cest la vie. The GF works at one of the law firms that handled much litigation during the 2000 election and there was a pretty massive pileup of suits...still gonna take the over on this one.

I don't get that entire ID thing. Why wouldn't you have some sort of Govt issued ID? You need an ID to do just about everything. (Cash a check, get a job, etc. etc.) If money is such a big issue, make 'em free.

I'm pretty sure the gawker thing is a joke as in "look, he came back several times, voter fraud!!!!" when really it's "he came back to the area several times to see if the lines had died down before voting"
-
Well I'd certainly HOPE they'd be tossed or at the very least everything would be above board enough and/or it'd be enough of a landslide to avoid the debacles of the previous 2 elections.
Yeah, I was saying, the number filed.

I guess Tim Robbins had some problems (among 40 others at the same polling place)
At one point, a poll worker who tried to get the insistent Mr. Robbins to move mentioned calling over a police officer, and the actor responded, ?Is this some kind of intimidation? I?m taking this as intimidation.? He added that he was prepared to be arrested, if necessary.

Right-wingers are SO EXCITED about that Black Panther dude in front of the polling place in Philly. They could not be more thrilled.

I voted a couple weekends ago...in Alameda County's lovely Registrar of Voters office, right near Lake Merritt. Didn't reduce my stress much, though.
-
How long has it been taking everyone to vote today? And where were you voting? Just curious.
voted at the church right down the street from my house. 12:45, no line, paper ballot, out in under five minutes. went straight dem and for every single judge to hit the fucking pavement.
-
Right-wingers are SO EXCITED about that Black Panther dude in front of the polling place in Philly. They could not be more thrilled.
Nothing more than guys in leftover Halloween costumes. The actual Black Panthers fell apart in the '70s & we're done for good when one of the founders, Huey Newton, was shot outside a crackhouse in late '80s (Oakland I think). But you are correct, this will precipitate another right wing grasping at straws exercise.
p.s. There were TWO of them, both no longer on the premises.
-
Well, that's why they're the NEW Black Panther Party.
I wouldn't be surprised if they were paid off by local Republicans to stand there.
-
I agree re. the payoff theory.
There are many NEW Black Panther parties, none of them w/ the hellraising, fear-striking abilities of the originals. Ultimately an even lamer attempt, than statue bomber Willy Ayers, to connect Obama to GASP '60s radicalism, socialism, burn baby burn, etc.
-
From (lame) Williamsboad:
Attempted Sabotage Foiled in Florida!
Deerfield Beach, Fla. is one hour south of Palm Beach. Nearly 400 people were planted firmly in line at 6:15 this morning, waiting for the polls to open at 7:00 AM. There is one voting machine to accommodate all of them.
The area almost entirely African American. Many of the people never have voted before. One woman was 101 years old. She was wheeled into the polling place and on her way out she said that before she died, she wanted to vote for a black man.
Election monitors noticed a man in line who appeared to be a voter. Turns out he was a saboteur, telling people the Democrats were supposed to vote at a different location.
Some of the voters said they were robocalled last night. The message -- Democrats weren't supposed to vote until Wednesday.
UPDATE -- Election officials just delivered seven more voting machines.
No links to articles supporting these claims however.
-
This is my first presidential election and I'm retardedly excited about it.
me too. i just never really gave a fuck before. thought it wouldn't matter etc. but now, the reason why it feels so good is because i get to picture the most annoying possible Republican piece of shit ever in my head, all their views, all their crap ideas, and I get to NEGATE EVERY ONE OF THEIR ARGUMENTS TO COMPLETE STERILITY with my little democratic touch screen panel! so it was my first time, and it felt so god damn good walking out thinking about that.
There are plenty more annoying fucks out there to negate...do your duty assholes! RENDER THEM POWERLESS!

"Oh, and by the way, I actually live in Philadelphia, I do have a permit to carry, and I will be carrying when I go to vote later on today?.God help someone if they try to intimidate me..
perhaps the first shot of the second civil war?"
and this is exactly the same fuckhead that will accuse BLACK people of trying to start shit over the election.

Why are you reading Michelle Malkin's blog? Plus, isn't she a person of color? Can you imagine if MM caught wind of an Obama supporter showing up armed at a voting booth? Also, I don't think you can carry a gun into a polling place even if you do have a permit.
Set yourself free and read the Marilyn Gibbs thread on this board.

I walked 2 blocks, registered, went to the poll, voted, and got my sticker. Round trip 15 minutes and no pain. When Obama wins, will it be like the new sheriff riding into town in Blazing Saddles?

and this is exactly the same fuckhead that will accuse BLACK people of trying to start shit over the election.
1) know your enemy
2) yeah, she's a person of color, and a woman which makes her Republicanism all the more cunty
3) she'd be spreading the word about an armed Obama supporter faster than you can say "race war"
4) you probably can't, but it's the sentiment that's unnerving
I know I shouldn't pay attention to this stuff ... but I CAN'T LOOK AWAY.

Step toward the bong, my sister.
-
I always do.

Showed up to vote at 3:30 today and my ward had 2 people ahead of me. Wanted to vote but dreaded standing in line. Ended up not mattering in the end.
-
i do not want to see any of those fuckers with executive power. fuck this election. it's meaningless.
-
Absentee in Ohio.
To make up for that vote probably not even being counted, I made about 25 calls for Barry to people in Ohio and Florida. It was actually very entertaining. Half the people I reached had already voted for Obama.
I also convinced my Mom and Dad to vote Obama (any my uncle not to vote McCain) over the course of this election season. Can't wait to see Ohio go blue and stop embarrassing me.
Also, fuck the Dispatch in the ass. And the Columbus Alive.

We woke up early and walked three houses down to the elementary school where our polls are. Pretty big line, but it didn't take long to get in there. Had a problem with the check-in lady, though. We brought our voter registrations cards to make it easier for em'... She thought she was supposed to keep them! Then she was "positive" she was supposed to keep them! My wife called her out on that shit and bitched her out (she's good at that kind of thing... I should know!). It got settled once her superior told her what's what. Still, I think some of the old folks they hire for this shit are bit too senile to handle this kinda job...
Complete my arrows on paper and voted Obama and all Democrats, except for the independent running against that old Repug Sensenbrenner, since no Dems took him on this time around, apparently...

Almost took the same cellphone pic. Glad you took care of it for me.

I tend to disagree with your analysis.

I voted Obama. There were a few local offices that had only Republicans running, so I did my duty with write in votes. my write in votes were David Lee Roth, Peter North, Nick Glider, and Gus Graf.
-
I've got a crush on Gilder.
-
At the elementary school where I used to vote the line was crazy in '04--today at 4pm I walked into the totally hood-ass elementary school two blocks from my house where I now vote to absolutely no line. I actually held the door open for a woman in a wheelchair but got to pass her at the voting room because she didn't know if she was registered to vote or not--BOOYAH! Hey, I read today on the internet that Obama wants to do away with coal power so all our electric bills will skyrocket. He also wants to do away with conceal-and-carry laws. This person said he had just found this information out and that it was important we didn't vote for Obama! Thank you, Internet, but alas you were too late.

yeah I got there right as the poles opened as well. Lots of minorities and young people. Two things the repubs must hate to see
went to a target store in sacramento before i took off to frisco. this target borders a semi-upper class neighborhood, a graveyard next to a black housing project, an old mostly asian neighborhood and a poor mixed neighborhood. the stores mix is pretty diverse. saw young black moms (late teens/early 20s) with "I voted" stickers as well as poor old black and asian folks, hip 20s, regular state worker schlumps, etc. every polling place i've passed in sacto and frisco, there is a line. in the city there is a weird tension, a cautious anticipation. it is quiet outside for it being 5 pm. the sun is starting to set so you can see the tv glow from windows.
-
I didn't...

Party in Harlem tonight! We're gonna walk down to the state building on 125th for the big blowout.

CNN, NBC, and Fox have all called Ohio for Obama.
Welcome to your new president.
-
Ohio and PA.... all over but the crying. see ya grandpa!
-
www.salon.com
David Talbot (9:24 p.m. EST): Priceless. A funereal Brit Hume and equally somber Karl Rove call Ohio for Obama. "No Republican has ever won the White House without winning Ohio," observes a deeply gloomy Rove.
-
from fivethirtyeight:
"Barack Obama wins Ohio. All call. We aren't "calling" the overall race yet, but that's ballgame, folks. He will be the next president of the United States.
Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States."
We're not calling it...but we're calling it.
-
Florida... all but Obama.
-
Obama's gonna win this!

My polling location was seperated by wards. Luckily the line in my ward was short. I was in and out within 10 minutes. Can't say the same for Ward 1 though. Long lines.
Voted for Bob Barr.
I went around 3:30, and the first ward line wrapped around the gym and had over an hour wait. I didn't think there was that many people in this town. I voted Obama.
-
YES! YES! YES! This is the exact opposite of the fear and desperation I felt four years ago when Bush won. Some awesome TV on right now. I keep wanting to watch Fox News to laugh at their grief, but they're always on commercial when I check.
Man, I hope Franken stays ahead of Coleman and pulls out the win. Too bad Michelle Bachman is ahead. I don't understand who the fuck could vote for her. She's just repulsive on so many levels.
-
Man, I hope Franken stays ahead of Coleman and pulls out the win.
I hope so, too! Then he could do the "Deep Thoughts By Jack Handey" thing to keep us up to date with the ups and downs of our government!
-
Woah, some jabronie named Will I Am is talking to Anderson Cooper right now AS A FUCKING HOLOGRAM. That's sick as death!!!! First black president and hologram entertainers giving their views on CNN - the future really is now!!!
Woah, more holograms ahead!!!! Rad!!!!!!!!!
-
O is at 220 right now....and the West Coast & Hawaii havent closed yet. That is 77 votes for O. That is a win. Hell, 220 + California = 275.
Hello, President Obama.
-
Man, I hope Franken stays ahead of Coleman and pulls out the win.
I hope so, too! Then he could do the "Deep Thoughts By Jack Handey" thing to keep us up to date with the ups and downs of our government!
That would be sick! It'd be even sicker if he delivered the speeches via hologram!

Fox aren't even trying. Their big boards and graphics aren't working and they're just panning away. 'Believe me, the black vote in Virginia went for Obama.'

he done did it.

too early?

I'm gonna be cheesy because I'm already drunk -- but they showed some young black girls at the Obama victory extravaganza and they were crying tears of joy, and I myself got a little teary-eyed. I'm a totally white redneck fisherman from northern Wisconsin, and I'm right there with em' and think this is a pretty great thing.
The only thing that sucks is that this country is so fucked right now that Obama has a lot to do in the next four years to get another four. Let's hope so!
-
Both CNN and NBC are calling it.
I started crying like a baby and I'm not afraid to admit it. This is a great moment to be an American.
Now NBC is reporting that McCain has conceded!
-
Yes, McCain has conceded.
Jessie Jackson is crying like a baby on MSNBC. I guess he feels bad about wanting to cut Obama's balls off. Remember that?
Obama was always smoother than Jessie J. anyway...
Obama has Florida even!

I'm waiting for the P-Funk mothership to land and Doctor Funkenstein and the Star Child to come out and bring the funk.
-
Holy shit, there are some big ass fire works going up all over my neighborhood here in the Outer Mission in San Francisco.
-
McCain is trying to give a concession speech and his "supporters" are boo-ing any mention of Obama. I almost feel sorry for McCain. Not really, though. He let this shit happen. Him and his lipsticked pitbull hockey slut.
McCain's concession speech actually sounds better than any speech he's ever given.
-
Let's take a moment to remember the political foresight and let's say it cut & paste GENIUS of Officer Brad X
hillary dems will vote mccain
latinos wont vote for a black
young people wont vote
blacks wont vote
white working class wont vote obama
undecideds will vote mccain
palin means a win for mccain

McCain is actually giving a great fucking speech. I mostly wanna deck all his supporters, though.
It's probably the last speech he'll ever give, so he might as well try not to sound like an asshat.
Still is one, though.
-
it sounds like he actually wrote that speech himself. certainly not towing the standard "we lost, but i'm gonna be a tried and true american" speech. absolutely great.

best thing about john mccain..........,his concession speech.

He might as well said fuck it and fuck you. McCain's not gonna be the new Goldwater. He's not near savvy or dedicated enough. Should have started bitching about his wife.

McCain should dump his wife and get another sugar-mama and buy an island and spend the rest of his life wearing a Speedo amongst young naked girls on some isolated beach. That's what I'd do... IF I WAS A LOSER!!!
-
Just woke up and found out, congratulations US Termbo's!
-
My sister and her husband brought my nephew to vote today. They live in a black neighborhood in St. Louis. They waited four and a half hours to vote and they voted for Obama. My brother in law is a career military man.
-
Went to the store to grab a celebratory beer and people are literally dancing in the streets! Store workers were singing and yelling. Fucking amazing.
-
There were people driving up and down both Holton and North Ave shouting and cheering and honking.
-
I'm at home drunk honking my own horn, keeping the cats awake and pondering a late trip to the gas station!
-
Oh yeah

Man, when they had John Lewis on MSNBC, that was pretty awesome. If i were capable of human emotions, I might have cried

I remember the Onion headline when Bush won back in 2000:
"Our long national nightmare of peace and prosperity is finally over"
Let's see what they come up with for next week.
"Bitter conservatives swear 'to move to Argentina or Kazakstan'"
-
I just dropped Get Mugged off at his dorm at Buff State College. Students practically rioting in the quad. Mayhem. Some black chick ran up to my car and yelled "THERE'S A BLACK PRESIDENT IN THE WHITE HOUSE, YO!!!!"
-
WHAT WAS THE FIRSST THING TO PLAY AFTER THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT MADE HIS FIRST SPEECH?
THE FUCKIN BOSS
FUCK EM UP
-
That was a truly transcendental moment.
I can't wait to talk to a bunch of third graders about this tomorrow.
-
i voted for the niggger.
-
i voted for the niggger.
I knew you would.
-
I was going to type the same thing, Keith.
You guys hear that Green Bay passed the health care referendum? Wisconsin is going to have National Health Care whether the rest of the country does or not.
-
And Massachusetts decriminalized up to an ounce. Not that I live there.
Drinking and blasting Live at the Harlem Square Club.
-
Milwaukee passed the Paid Sick Leave referendum. That includes all workers in the city, both full AND part time. I'm pretty stoked on that.

Hey, I only live in Milwaukee county (not the city proper), but is that gonna be a real thing, or is it one of those "voter recommended" refs that go nowhere? Cause' my employer is based in Milwaukee (city... proper...) and I'd love to have those sick days. Hell, I could use one tomorrow! I'm drunk as hell and have to wake up all early to go there! ARggh!
-
i voted when the polls opened
with the old people
-
Living here in South Carolina all is quiet now, which is the most beautiful silence I've experienced in a long while because if there were loud bangs and pops of fireworks from celebrations it would have meant four more years of hell.

It's a binding referendum, according to the Journal Sentinel website.

The three of us just got back from the victory rally at 125th and Adam Clayton. Fucking beautiful. All of Harlem is up right now celebrating, horns honking, dancing in the streets. Unalloyed joy.
My little son witnessed a glorious moment in American history tonight. Now it's time for us to go to bed.

Y'know, comparing the disillusionment I felt four years ago to the optimism I feel now really illustrates the meaning of the cliche "it's always darkest before the dawn" more than anything I've ever witnessed. Looking at the electoral map when Bush won his second term I thought this country was irredeemably fucked. I can't express how glad I am to have been wrong!
-
now they need to really beef up security for Obama...there're plenty of angry wingnuts with guns in this country.
-
I believe he's already got an unprecedented level of security. A dude as smart as he is definitely knows that his life will never be the same and that he'll need to be surrounded by heavy security for at least the next four years, if not most of his life.
-
My girlfriend just rolled over in her sleep and mumbled "Yeeeeah he won. Kerry won." No shit.
-
Just waiting to see what happens with Prop 8. If it doesn't pass, I lose all hope for California.
-
a great night. the only thing i would change is the fact that i am for some reason sharing my feelings about it on an internet forum. whatthefuckhappenedtomyl ife?

90% of the neighborhoods here are black neighborhoods....OK, not 90%, but most of them are majority black. Our polling place has a really small number of people who vote there...in our ward or whatever. There were two people ahead of me in line just after 5pm last night. It took me 5 minutes, but in some of the north city neighborhoods (north city is 90% or more black/non white) people waited hours and hours and hours. Those places weren't equipped to handle such a huge turnout from people who normally don't vote. St. Louis city voted about 82% for Obama...me and the wife, included! Suburban St. Louis (aka white flight/urban sprawl hell) was just over 50%.
-
I'm registered to vote in Ohio, so the lady and I did absentee voting there. Swing state and all.
Way to swing Ohio, Kevin and Tina. Thank you!
YOU ARE WELCOME!

Just waiting to see what happens with Prop 8. If it doesn't pass, I lose all hope for California.
Yeah, this is crazy. At UCLA the bible beaters are holding all-night vigils. It's completely disgusting.
how can we see unprecedented democratic turnout and not defeat the hate?
how? wtf.

I heard someone on NPR yesterday say that blacks and latinos were turning out to vote more then ever, voting democrat, but socially conservative and against gay marriage. That might have had something to do with it.
I was woken up this morning by my gay neighbors screaming about the assholes who stole their lives. Kind of fucked.
-
Here's some guys saying "FUCK GAY MARRIAGE" (LA Times)

There needs to be a real and intense dialogue started and these minorities need to bew informed that if they wish to continue getting help with immigration reform and want to be treated like first class citizens that they respect others rights as well.
Whatever steps forward were madelast night can be quickly reversed if they continue to hold on to their own bigotry.
Like shaun always used to say "you really think there are n1ggers out there right now arguing about whether what their friend just said was racist?"
-

Bollocks to that. Not that you'd have any saying or ultimate influence on anything, it's your own country that speeds up manufacturing through cheap labour. Just like any other would.

now they need to really beef up security for Obama...there're plenty of angry wingnuts with guns in this country.
asshole a few tables behind me kept pointing at the screen, cocking his thumb and shouting "bam" during obama's speech last night. wasn't anger i saw in his eyes, it was hate. and this was a fucking kid! looked barely old enough to be sitting in a bar...
-
And where was Prop JJ (for Oakland voters)? I saw some sign at the Ashby bart saying to vote yes for prop JJ because it supports medicinal marijuana, and I thought "finally, here's something I can get behind" but then I didn't see it anywhere on the ballot. What gives? Did they get too stoned and forget to put it on there?
it passed with 62%

Fuck...it sounds retarded and scary. Yup, it's these wingnuts I'm worried about. They're dumb and probably have no calculative minds to come up with a solid assasination plan, but I think it's possible for pure hatred alone to penetrate the tightest security. OF COURSE Obama and his people have been putting more thoughts into security than we can possibly imagine, but never underestimate the racial hate. It's there, and it will never go away.
Anyhoo, it would've been funny if this passed-

All the Bay Area newspapers denounced it, saying it was too insulting to the sewage plant.
-
without a doubt the best thing about election night was all the people i saw in the streets on foot, bicycle, etc. jamming all across town with signs and telling people to vote no on 8...even if the dingleberries voted yes on 8 haven't really seen anything like this before and it gives me hope about change..its really only gonna come from people and that grass roots shit. congrats to the east bay on your legalized dope.
