ONE OF THE BEST BANDS EVER. Discuss.
I'm a latecomer, admittedly. I only wish I'd fully ingested them back when I was listening to stuff like Nurse With Wound every other day and feeling like I was cutting edge. Or maybe that's why I like them so much now.
When my band got to open for them last year it was one of the best experiences of my entire life. Such great dudes. I got really drunk and got really high on their pot. All I remember is them being loud and great. So great. Life-changing great. Cause' I never leave Wisconsin, and this was only the second time they played in this state...
Yeah, I'm drunk. I'm also sick of Wavves, Vivian Girls, Jay Reatard and all that hair-stylist, publicist, tour-manager, booking-agent "rock" that's all the "rage" "these days." Actually, nevermind about that. I don't care about any shit! None of this shit can even fingertip a Cheater Slicks' dick. For fuck's sake. Why even bother with this bullshit?
It seems like every situation I'm in these days is suitable for a Cheater Slicks soundtrack. I don't know what that says about me or them, but maybe you should just shut the fuck up and keep your opinions to yourself anyway...

Hamm's the Beer Refreshing!
Cheater Slicks the Band Enticing!
-
Fuck yes. One of the rare bands who get better and better with age. Saw them twice a couple of years ago and it was mind melting. Dana Hatch naked, bashing away and screaming his fucking head off is a sight. The guitar interplay between Tom and Dave live is unreal. I hope they come out west sometime soon. Super excited for the new record. Not too mention some of the best lyrics around. AND they cover the fuck out of a song.
-
ONE OF THE BEST BANDS EVER, YUP.
On my shortlist of active bands I wanna fly over to America and see. Really wish more bands would try writing a song as bug-eyed FUCKED as 'Chaos'.
AND I'm MISSING a few of their 7's. If ANYONE has some spares/copies they're willing to part with, then HIT ME THE FUCK UP.
-
They're so great, I blame them for my current Hamm's binge and all future binges. They're that good.
Anybody who don't dig no Cheater Slicks is NOT A FAN OF ROCK'N'ROLL.
-
Wavves, Vivian Girls, Jay Reatard are just stale and wimpy now. I've noticed that alot the darling bands of this board are bordering on "indie" ie the "new wave" of this decade. They were either really good at one point or they were just watered down from the start. The Slicks are great but its a gamble to see them live. They do love the sauce, but at least they have balls. Face it, once Wavves is signed to vice or matador or some shit like that, the termbros will forsake them (ex. Reatard, Black Lips). But then again, those bands don't really help their situation very well by putting out subpar records.
Anyway...
The Cheater Slicks are great and show no signs of slowing down.

I was just throwing names anyway. I'm not part of the forsaking crowd (I still like the Black Lips, some Reatard shit, etc.), but can't say I ever was whole-hog on any of that kinda stuff. I AM WHOLE-HOG on da' Cheater Slicks. Dunno what your "sauce" comments mean. If that means drunkiness, then HELL YES. No gamble. I'm a realist. Right now, I gotta take a pee. Be back in few minutes.

That pretty much sums it up. Last time I caught em was at SXSW maybe 3 or 4 years ago at the Hook or Crook show with Haunted George. Killer bill. Lots of fat naked dudes....no complaints here.

Probably because none of those bands are coming from the same place as Cheater Slicks stylistically?
I like Cheater Slicks just fine.
Don't understand the "one way or the other" thing.
-
BOTH!
if i had to pick just one i'd take CT.
-
The Slicks are one of the LOUDEST bands I've ever seen. This wasn't evident when I saw them play a medium-sized venue where they went through a PA. But at Ding Dong Lounge in NYC five years ago -- barely a venue, really, it's just a long, narrow bar with a pool table and a DJ booth -- you couldn't stand anywhere near 'em, it was so loud.
They haven't "progressed" one bit in nearly twenty years. They're the same band now as they were when they made Destination Lonely, only older and possibly angrier. Dana Hatch remains one of the worstest/bestest drummers in the binness.
Vivian Girls + Cheater Slicks would make a great bill as long as you didn't have to hear their fans talk about 'em in between sets. Their similarities > their differences.

same show I was talking about. It ruled. I don't think people that haven't seen them can grasp how great they are.

I'd still be here to blog-bitch about 'em both. Don't worry.
-
saw em last year in milwaukee and it was perfect. outside barfin while they played walk into the sea was a total mental postcard moment
-
are any of their records in print
-
i'm sure most of the itr and crypt lp can't be too hard to find.
we have a few copies of "yer last record" on LP at academy. can get more if people want some.
they have a far darker psych sound on that lp than any of their others which they touched upon on previous releases but shows a slight progression or at least expansion of their sound. i think "momentary muse" off that album is my favorite song by them.
-
Green Light rules. I think they've progressed plenty since Destination Lonely.

I was at this show. With The Spits, too, right? Wasn't it a Dot Dash thing? Jackalope. Slicks got the power turned off on 'em at 2 AM. On acid and doing blow off the tables. Before the Slicks, "Pretty Please Me" came on the soundsystem and the solo almost split my head open.
Hatch usually gets naked and refuses to use a drum stool, always preferring a couple milk crates. Although last time I saw 'em in NY, I think he was using a stool, and I accused him of selling out.
I know I'm like BradX with this show, but it still tickles me toes:
Cheater Slicks
Feast of Snakes
Hunches
This Moment in Black History
A Frames
Also, they played Cleveland a couple years on my birthday. Not necessarily for, but they were the only band and I was DJing so I'll pretend it was.
Duh, great fucking band.
-
Oh, that toe-tickling show was in my basement in Clevo. RIP Black Eye.
-
I think they've progressed plenty since Destination Lonely.
Agreed. And they've gotten better with time.
Junior, they were great at that Milwaukee show - I saw them 3 times in 2 weeks across 3 cities and they got better each time (that was the last of the 3 for me). One of the very few bands that you could follow around for a while and not get bored. You end up bathing in what they do & it makes it better instead of more tiresome. Far more "difficult" band than they're given credit for. An American classic, up there with almost any band in history. However, they do play sets longer than my liking unless I'm in the perfect mood, but that goes for almost every band out there.
Quick, name another band with 7-8 albums that hasn't tanked at least one of them. Stones at the same point in their career?
-
Also, David Shannon is one of the best improvisational guitar players around.
-
Spanish Rose
-
arturo/other academy folk - definitely would like a copy of "your last record" if you can get some. great LP, never was really into these guys until I heard that one (tho i like a lot of their earlier stuff now too)
-
Slicks are great, psyched to see them in Pittsburgh again soon!

That's my favorite, and it's also the one that fully sold me - they were just a band I liked before that came out.
-
Refried Dreams, Yer Last Record and Walk Into the Sea are their best. #1 single belongs to Walk up the Street/Wedding Song. hook or Crook/Trouble Man also rules. Getting drunk hating yourself has never felt so good without these guys.

Duh, great fucking band.
You are confusing 2 shows that were both at the Jackalope on separate days but the same weekend, probably because you were tripping balls the entire time...the Dot Dash thing was Spits/Angry Angles/Livefastdie/DC Snipers/Busy Signals. <-----(total sonic thread lineup!!!)
The Hook or Crook thing was Haunted George, Cheater Slicks and I forget who else.
Both shows fucking ruled.
-
I've been in a shitty mood for almost 2 weeks now, in that time Refried Dreams and Walk Into The Sea have been constant jams. Great mood music.
-
YO, my slicks discography is almost done...
still need:
Get on Your Knees LP on Gawdawful
Destination Lonely 45 on Gift of Life
HIT ME UP
-
Is Caulen still going to sell you the CDR 7" when it comes out, Steve?
-
yeah, i saw him a few weeks ago and he was down... just need the fucking thing to come out!
-
Yeah, that and the Horseshit one are the ones I am most looking forward to at this point.
-
The Cheater Slicks can cover the songs that should never be covered. The guitar parts in their cover of Lee Hazlewood's "Think I'm Coming Down" couldn't suit a song more perfect.
-
i will discuss later whn i get to work, i have some things to say but i'm way to hungover and my wife is making go to the grocery store.
-
i first got into them in about '95 or 96 (whenever "don't like you" came out) when i realized i need to hear sonic music that wasn't "punk"/ hardcore and garage music that wasn't the hentchmen. i was also finally getting heavily into weed and whiskey at this time. to this day i still love the much maligned jon spencer production. the first time i heard that crazy noise on the opening of "destroy you" i knew i had found my band. i was stunned cuz the guitars seemed to be way too low in the mix, and by the songs end it's noisier than i had ever dreamed, but it still hadn't gotten any louder. i'm still mystified at how they achieved that. other fave slicks moments would have to be when i heard the original version of "should i"on the shutdown '66 comp and thinking, "those crazy fuckers!" i know people have already said here, and in other threads on other forums, and every conversation people have about them , that they make their covers their own. it's not just that, but they seem to be able to find songs to cover that already have some kind of similar theoretic aesthetic. is it a key? is it a style of chord progression? i don't know, but it's there. the only song they've ever covered that i think they blew it on was "i can go on" from "forgive thee" and now i'm not so sure they actually blew it, i think it might have just been an ackward choice, because it sounds like a cover. nobody's perfect i guess. anyway, back to "don't like you." it's the best cheater slicks album there is. period.
i first heard "thinking some more" when i was cruising the strip with some friends. when i relaized what was going on with that song i stopped my portion of whatever stoned & drunken conversation we were having and just fucking zoned on it. "whiskey" is my all time #1 favorite favorite cheater slicks album.
anyway, i first saw them at the vegas crap-out, a three day event that a friend of mine put on. oblivians played, as did the lord high fixers, drags... tons of bands. anyway, slicks ended the weekender. i was trashed and barely familiar with them at this point. i was one of very few people left to watch them. i knew i liked it, but my ears were still pretty immature. repeated listenings of "don't like you" were really warping my mind, then larry hardy sent me an advance of "forgive thee" for my radio show. i drank some whiskey and put it on. it was exactly what i had been waiting for. it was so different from "destroy you." i really understood then that the slicks were so much about melody and beauty, and the noise was just a disguise, or at least a way to combine the beauty that most people hear with the beauty that only an esoteric group of freaks likes. i also realized with that album's first song "friends" that they were capable of smiling. i can't help but sing along to that song with a huge grin. it might be my favorite thing they've done, but there really are so many. i consider "forgive thee" to be their most perfect, and best album. somebody put this fucker out on wax. i hate the fact i actually have a cd that i have to play.
i only recently got "destination lonely" when tom shannon sent me a cd of it. cool album, but i only listened to it once on a train. i never get around to listening to cd's at home. i truly hate them. fortunatelya friend found a spare lp in his collection and it's on the way to my place right now. might actually be here tomorrow. i hope so, cuz i really need this lp as it's by far their greatest album.
i never got into "refried dreams." i bought it the day it arrived at the local punk store. it wasn't as fierce as their other albums. i was in a shitty relationship and life kinda sucked and i was craving excitement, not depression. i got rid of it on one of my regular "so broke i better go sell some records" trips. i'm ready to have it back. i have a feeling i'm missing out on what is probably their greatest moment.
i also sold my copy of "on your knees" when i was broke. fucking bullshit. best record.
when "yer last record" came out i couldn't have been less excited, especially after the dissapointment of "refried dreams." my roommate played it for me and neither of us cared. then it started growing on me a bit. the night i met my wife we wer ein her room and the cheater slicks "yer last record" randomly came on her 5 disc cd changer. i said in utter disbelief "is this the cheater slicks???" this is one of a million reasons why i knew i had to marry her. anyway, an ex-cowrker of hers did the vinyl release of "yer last record." she knew i was as much a 'slicks junkie as she was so she gave me a copy. i listened to it pretty frequently cuz i had it on wax. i eventually came to realize that it is indeed a great record.
got "walk into the sea" from the band when i brought them to nyc to play with haunted george. this, my friends, is a return to the original cheater slicks sound... rock'n'fuckingroll! i had been waiting to hear them go berserk again after so many dark, morose releases. is that a synthesizer on the first track? did you ever really look at that cover? very complicated. dave shannon is fucking intense with a pen. would love to see more of his art. but hey, the best album ever recorded deserves a cover that good, right?
also, i have a bunch of their singles. "rum drunk" b/w "this life of mine" is my favorite along with that one (golddigger?) where they cover "my little red book" and the "chaos" single.
i've seen 'em a bunch of times and usually stick my head in the moniter so i can hear better. one time in memphis i saw dana hatch levitate and hover over his drum kit. i always think that tom shannon is gonna take his guitar and smash me over the head with it when he's getting into his strum. dudes loolks seriously annoyed. maybe i shouldn't always stand so close.
i wonder if they still drink as much as they did way back when. it used to be rumored that they drank whiskey for breakfast. i've often wondered if their lives looked like the cover of "whiskey." that black and white picture of them in the living room with the cool artifacts and coctails in their hands always struck me as particularly bitchin'.
-
Cheater Slicks have been the steadiest band on my turntable for the past five or so years since I first really got into them. I think the first CD of Forgive Thee is one of the best things any band has ever done. When I go for a walk on a shitty day I love throwing that on and really cranking the volume on my MP3 player. By the time you get around to "Ghost" your senses are completely assaulted in so many ways. "Ghost" is especially amazing, and Dave Shannon's guitar playing on it is mind blowing.
I've seen them live five times, in four different cities, but never in Toronto. I could watch them play for hours and not get bored.
-
I honestly think Cheater Slicks Walk Into The Sea is their best work.
-

oh shit! how could i forget "skidmarks???" goddamn, "dark night" is the one song i can't believe never made it on an official lp. it's classic slicks. i think it's funny when tom keeps growling the title over and over. the cover of rockabilly daddy-o bill allen's "please give me something" is the most severely grinding rock'n'roll made in the post-punk era, outside of the earliest and sleaziest cramps stuff. in fact, tom is going nuts with the hicupping/ crying/ pleading vocal gimmickery... never heard anything as desperate in my life, including the stuff they're aping. and the shout of "let's rock!" before the guitar break is maybe rock'n'roll's most big-balls spine tingling intro ever.
GGGGGAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
-
sorry, i didn't mean to kill this thread.
-
Fuck, I just pulled out Skidmarks and listened to "Please give me something". What a motherfucker.
-
Saw them in both Boston and Providence in the early/mid-90s and on each occasion there were far less people in the room at the end of the set than when they started. Talking in the single digits here.
Picked up the early singles and "Destination Lonely" around the time they came out, but I remember when I got "Whiskey" how friggin' over-the-top it sounded compared to their other records at the time. Took me a while to finally get the guts to flip it over and play the side-long "Thinking Some More," but shit, that's one of their all-time best.
Haven't picked up the last few later LPs, but when I saw them live a couple of years ago, they were actually way better than I remember them being 10+ years earlier.
One tidbit that always struck me as cool/crazy....It was a dead Sunday night at a bar in Providence, the 'Slicks were playing for maybe 25 people, and David Shannon realizes he forgot some pedal behind. He proceeds to drive back up to Boston, pick up the pedal, and back to Providence for the gig. Two-hour roundtrip drive.....gas/time/frustration (four hours driving total, counting getting there initially and then back)....all to play for a couple dozen people who probably wouldn't even endure their entire set.

How about this video???
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=3i1G3_CO_pE
Too bad they never recorded this cover.
-
wow.
-
has anyone got an mp3 of their cover of "we all love peanut butter"? i used to listen to it daily when it was on their myspace, and miss it bad.
-
Has anyone else noticed how many ladies love the Cheater Slicks?
Two of my best friends wives swear by them...my girlfriend is somewhat obsessed with them.
Just wondering if it's like that for anyone else.
Chicks luv Dead Moon too.

thanks a million for posting that. my life is now complete. that was god.

hey! my copy of destination lonely just showed up, and it's on purple wax! are they all like that?
-
I'm pretty sure, mine's on purple too - got it from Stanton Park mailorder in Mass. shortly after it came out.
-
There's black vinyl too. Not sure what the numbers are for each though.
-
"Refried Dreams" is one of my favorite songs, period.
-

mine's on red.
-
from the copies i saw there were far more black than purple. the purple varied slightly, a real reddish-purple to dark grape.
-
cheater slicks kicked merle allin out the band cuz he wasn't weird enough.
-
If anyone doubts the Cheater Slicks they have to listen to the cover of Sister Ray on their myspace. It's arguably better than the original.
-
i ain't heard it yet. looking forward to it.
-
The singing part towards the end after the long instro portion of "Thinkin' Some More" just blasted in right when I re-logged back into Termbo and landed back on this thread. Coincidence? I'm also drinking Hamm's again (in moderation this time). Things are looking up...
-
Coincidence? I'm also drinking Hamm's again (in moderation this time).
i always think i'm gonna drink moderately until i finish my third, then all hell inevitably breaks loose.
-
There was only five left in the house, and I've had four. Not even enough to get a buzz. But I'll sleep a little better than I did last night (detox hell!).

on my home from work last night i was playing "forgive thee" in the car. it was snowing like crazy and there's a huge hill a few blocks from where i live. i tried braking to slow down and i slid, went up on the curb and almost ran into a light pole but i steered away from it and was back in the street in the nick of time. when i got inside i needed something as good as "forgive thee" to play to cool out, so i cracked open a sixer of yuengling and tossed on "walk into the sea." it really is the best slicks album, but not by a long shot. it's just as good as "forgive thee," but i'll have to agree with cecil who i think said that the title track is their best song. wow.
-
Weird, I was just listening to Forgive Thee about 20 minutes ago, and I almost woke up the wife while digging out some beer from the fridge.
Personally, I think any Cheater Slicks album could be their best at any given time. They're all great, and some fit certain moods more than others (i.e. different kinds of drunkiness or shitty days at work or getting hollered at by the wife for not doing the dishes when you said you would). Been listening to Whiskey and Yer' Last Record the most lately, but that changes from week to week.
-
hey, you're right!

Bats In The Dead Trees
Current mood: adventurous
Out in early 2009...This LP features four instrumental improvisations done live with no overdubs. Ltd pressing of 300 LPs on the label Lost Treasures of the Underworld. The cover will be handscreened and 100 LPs will be on green vinyl.
For lovers of over-the-top psychotic trance induced/inducing feedback mayhem with a beat...stay tuned for the exact release date.
Anyone heard this, or know anything about the release date????
-
covers have been screened, they're waiting on the records to get back from the plant
-
I got mine today! I thinx today was the first day they were available in Columbus. Don't know when they're actually coming out, someone said the official date is Feb. 11, I think. Lost Weekend has like, 3 copies on black left (I got the last green one, I guess he only got 2) and Used Kids got some too. Shits are hand numbered and all that.
It's really good (as if you had any doubts!). Loud. My receiver sucks though so I'm looking forward to hearing it on someone else's.
Edit: to remove extraneous/redundant information due to weed shut-in status.

did you ever really look at that cover? very complicated. dave shannon is fucking intense with a pen.
no kidding!! that drawing almost overshadows how classic that album is. my favorite slicks release; though to be fair, i haven't spent time with "whiskey" or "yer last record". is any distros getting "bats" in that's gonna charge reasonable shipping for canadians?
-

nah, it helps make it the classic that it is.
-
Academy is going to be getting copies of this.
-
got one green and one black on the way.
also have a joint i'm saving for when the records get here.
-
That pretty much sums it up. Last time I caught em was at SXSW maybe 3 or 4 years ago at the Hook or Crook show with Haunted George. Killer bill. Lots of fat naked dudes....no complaints here.
Hook or Crook show was Wednesday, March 15, 2006
Cheater Slicks
The Rebel
Golden Boys
Haunted George
John Schooley one man band
Demon's Claws are on the poster but they cancelled.
-
That show ruled.
-
if i run out weed before this record gets here i am gonna kill someone.
-
If I don't get this record I am going to kill myself.

SOLD OUT FROM THE LABEL
-
I got one on the way, can't wait to melt my brain. Try the band maybe.
-
Oh, I got one. Just helping others.

If I don't get this record I am going to kill myself.
As of yesterday, there are still 2 at Lost Weekend. Swoop one!
-
maybe i'll play both of my copies at the same time on 2 different 1200's, but start one about a half second after the other and give it some self inflicted phasing/ flange. yeah, save that joint, boy...

thanks dawg. my life: saved!

Got one from the band through myspace. Cheater Slicks rule!
-
hey cheater slicks professors, got a question. was "forgive thee" ever released on LP? all info on the net is conflicting.
-
No. There is a rumor that it may be coming soon though. Maybe Larry H could elaborate...
-
http://www.intheredrecords.com/pages/cheaterslicks.html
ubu this says it was, i swear i have seen it but of course maybe wrong
-
Yeah, it's weird that it says lp/cd.
-
yeah I saw that bruce. has anyone tried ordering the LP from ITR? all other listings seems to suggest that it was a 2CD only. i have nothing against ordering a CD if that's the only format available. just thought i'd check first.
-
sorry, i didn't see levon's reply. thanks.
-
that's just a missprint.
i was "this close" to finally issuing it on lp on my new label "black gladiator records." but then when i mentioned it to someone, they told me tom shannon had alreay told them about it. huh? i called larry, and it turns out that at the same time i was getting ready to ask the appropriate parties if i could do it, larry and the slicks had already discussed finally pressing it. i think it'll be out in either '10 or '11 as a 3LP box set.
sad i don't get to do it, but at least it's finally gonna be available on the preferred format.
also, an itr reissue of "don't like you" (15th anniverasry edition) with the demos you've all been waiting to hear.
as far as black gladiator goes, i'm doing the 1st ever vinyl issue of tunnel of love's "rockin' rollin' bitches."
i'm also doing a single for vex ruffin and the lo-fi jerkheads.
-

Is this gonna' have that "(Kill Yerself) Charlie" song that's on the OG CD? I was bummed that my favorite track on the album was left off the Big Neck CD.
You should get the Mister Records comp track they did and the early CDr songs too. Vinyl!

I remember reading years ago somewhere on the net that there will be a 2LP reissue of "Don't Like You" with demo recordings on the other disc. Also a 3LP reissue of "Forgive Thee" was mentioned. Anyone know what's the situation with these releases?

Those would be nice..
In the meantime, the band have been posting so many hours of live sets and rarities on their Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/morbidweb it's enough to drive new and old fans completely bonkers!

This is coming out next year. Tom Shannon recently gave a proper mix to the pre-album demos. They sound awesome.

YES. That's what I thought was being talked about but was too drunk to differentiate. ULTIMATE ALBUM. Promo CD only copy I've ever had:

Don?t Like You reissue coming in 2015 on In The Red! 20th anniversary. This will come with demos we did in 1994 newly remixed by Adam Smith that sound AMAZING. Double LP with liner notes and everything. Stay tuned?

Still the best band.
-
"Momentary Muse" has been my after-work beer pumper for the last 6 weeks or so.
-
I think at this point in my life "Forgive Thee" has become my most listened to album (at least in parts). Still a shame it hasn't gotten a vinyl treatment. An absolute masterpiece and tied with "Satan Is Real Again" as favorite album of the last quarter century.
-
GOAT
Was talking with Anchovies the other night and we still refer to "Reality is a Grape" as the "new one". Five years old now. And a great record. I've been spinning 'Walk into the Sea" the most lately.
Hope that 'Forgive Thee" box and the 2XLP 'Don't Like You' (with the alternate recording) surface someday, but it seems grim. Rumor has it they are working on a new one, but that could still take years....
-
Chris Woodhouse is moving to Ohio.
Let's unleash that Slicks floodgate...
-
Iowa.
-
Damn.
Horrors reform??
-
Walk Into the Sea is a stone cold classic.
-
I've been listening to Cheater Slicks about 15 years and one thing I like is how at any given time you can listen to a song you've heard 10, 20, or 30 times before and suddenly have an experience. I had a moment where the song "Refried Dreams" blew my mind just a few weeks ago.
-

I agree with most of this. Especially how much love I give "Satan IS real Again." Listened to it last week. Perfect album. I might switch Forgive Thee with Whiskey.
-
I don't post much on this board anymore, but I posted on Facebook around the time this thread (which I started, apparently) was brought back to life that "Cheater Slicks are still the best." Coincidence? Nah, it's just a reminder, a feeling that needs to be made public every few years, I think.
BEST BAND.
-
In case anyone cares, I uploaded their cover of "Silver Train" to YouTube. It had been lacking.

Just listened to the live shit back-to-back- I'd recommend it.
Somebody knows what he's doing on the fucking sound.
-
Walk Into the Sea is a stone cold classic.
Yes!! They are all great, but this is my favorite
-
Saw em last night, still one of the best bands goin'. A real American treasure, this post should always be on the first page!
-
I've seen them twice...the second time was when they did their recent Southern tour (2015?) and they played for maybe 7 people, which I felt really bad about...they've written some of my favorite songs ever, some of the best albums of the last 20 years (they seem to get better as they go, somehow)...I wish they would play around more but with the reception that they get I understand why they don't. They should get way more attention and praise than they do. They were killer both times, too.
-
(they seem to get better as they go, somehow)
Agreed. "Reality is a Grape" and "Walk Into the Sea" might be my two favorites.
On a sidenote, I wish there was some kind of expanded reissue for "Bats in the Dead Trees."
-
Killer set from '95 here

Probably the closest you'll get to hearing the raw mixes of "Don't Like You" until that reissue hopefully comes out.
