Post by: rickitsinmeknees on January 13, 2010, 12:41:54 PM
I traveling to San Francisco this march, i was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on any places
worth going to aside from the major attraction? record shops? good sights? restaurants?
that sort of thing.
Also what are bars in the like for id'ing people? I'm 19 by the way, i shit pretty tight in america?

You are terribly ill-informed...

Yeah, you might be able to get in to a bar with sheer luck, but in California at least people are very intense about IDing. With that said, you can totally score drugs from people in Golden Gate Park, just be careful, but I am sure you have that all down being from the land of violent crime and all.

Cheers i guess just try my luck, i heard there's policies that everyone person gets id'd no wonder how old they look.
I don't know if that is true.
Yeah i'm sure americans are good drinkers, but were nordic it's in our blood. It is our legacy.

San Francisco drinks more per capita than any other city in the USA. But every bar will ID you.

Stepping out, you could get away with something in a restaurant with a group perhaps.

Nah, that not true every bar will ID you...
try Jacks bar, The Attic, Casanova, just to name a few.

All three of those bars will ID you. Sometimes they won't, but on any night but maybe Monday or Tuesday those places have people working the door. However, the shoddiest fake ID will pass inspection at the Attic or Jacks. Casanovas, who knows

Yeah, if you have an older brother who will let you borrow their ID that can work well.

Thanks for information, i guess a borrowed ID would be probably the
best chance. I noticed early that all the bars seemed to be closed by 2am
is this the law in California?

Seems to me like if you're drinking alone, no one will give a shit.  Groups of loud happy people are always targeted.  Then again, I look about 50 so it's easy for me to say.  So make no friends and you'll do fine.

I lived in S.F. when I was 18/19 and got away nearly every time with an ID that looked nothing like me. I used to buy bottles of wine on my way home from work every night at those shitty little mini-marts in the Tenderloin and almost never got carded. But then, I looked pretty sexy in my Cheesecake Factory uniform.

There's a bar on Geary Street that lets you smoke and you could probably drink there without much hassle.  Brace knows it.  What's that place called?  Geary Lounge?  Ha Ra is up the street and that place rules.  You could try it.  Sometimes Carl doesn't give a shit and won't card anyone.

I used to drink at the Ha-Ra a lot. I lived on Jones and Bush, so it was pretty close. There was a bar I really liked on Polk St. too that I can't remember the name of... It was kind of too girly, but me and one of my co-workers used to go there after work a lot and get silly. They had frozen martinis with blueberries in them, a bunch of Dorothy Parker quotes on the wall, and they were always showing Mommie Dearest on their TVs.
