the best is the last couple minutes while us lobg time band members are drunkenly screaming whatever comes into our minds as stumpy our new bas player bores us trying to learn the songs.. Earlieer in the day I threatened to sing every song "itchy ya itchy ya itchy itchy ya ya" etc and this was the inevitable result...

It's been awhile since I posted any THE ONIONS related news, so here is a short update.  Rhythm guitar player and ex-LSOK Brent is fading.  At one of these rehearsals he knocked over the entire PA, at the last he tripped backwards over his amp and played noise until drummer Jesse got fed up enough to come out and turn off his amp.  I am working on a new song about the way we normally see Brent, "smoke in one hand, drink in the other, PASSED OUT PASSED OUT"  bartenders cut him off at our last two gigs before we even made it onstage...

ex-LSOK drummer Trent was in town this weekend and so disgusted with Brent he walked out.  Bro in law of mine, Jemimah may be joining back up on 3rd guitar, totally unnecessary, but this band was never about neccesity, we are a party band.  Fuck it, he wants to play, he will be back in the band soon.  In the meantime, I have compiled a demo of recordings we did since stumpy fingered California native Bobber joined the band.

Bob's wife is black.  We got a shitty old dog this week, a black lab.  I am afraid to talk to her sometimes, because although a female dog is a bitch, sometimes I fear my comments to the black bitch may be misunderstood...  Actually the dog is pretty fucking cool, so whatever.

Ten songs recorded on 4 track cassette and stereo reel to reel, all from the last month and a half.  These are home recordings, we also went to the studio (sounds ok, indeed) down in Milwaukee and recorded some songs that should be out soon on vinyl, in plenty of time for our SXSW appearance in the spring.  Sorry, but you will have to wait for the records to come out to hear those, but for the meantime here are our latest practice demos, an original and a cover...

Make sure Brent isn't totally ready to pass out when you play at the Circle A on New Years Eve. He can do that after you play!

I ran into Jamie Shimon at the the Circle A the other night and he had nothing but negative things to say bout you BratX (as he looked at the floor) when I told him you were playing with us on NYE. Needless to say, he probably won't be coming to the show.  I was hoping you could give him a kiss and make-up after all these years, but...

newest onions songs below...

as far as sharkey shimon is concerned, whatever.  He's a d-bag and I hope he enjoys playing the same tired nuggets covers for the rest of his life.  Going a dozen years or more without getting laid has got to suck thoug so I don't blame him for being bitter.  Anyways, were visiting his far more interesting brother later, and the always beautiful julie...

Keep in mind his influence helped guide what style LSOK wound up playing, he turned you on to a lot of shit you didn't hear at the time and influenced what in what genre you chose to play. He's the guy who turned me onto Hasil Adkins and Screamin Lord Sutch! Say Hi to J&J for me and Timbi. As far as him not getting laid...give him a reach around and end the feud. He might pay ya what ya got for 3 records.

actually I was way more influenced by nigel but whatever, doesn't make him any less of a poof.  There's a reason I left and moved to florida to be in lsok and it's because punk is way more interesting to me than playing the same shitty garage songs forever.  Shit I had that figured out when I was a teenager.  Dude is stuck in a terminal rut.  I don't have a problem with him in case you missed it he is the one talking shit about me.

don't get me wrong I appreciate everything he did and respect his great 80s music history but since I left the band I haven't heard him do anything I am even remotely interested in.  It was awesome being so young and having people like him let me tape their records, it's his behavior towards me in the years since then that has formed my current opinion of him.

He's the same uptight OCD guy he was then. You 2 should slip each other some tongue and let the past be the past. I would quote Rodney King but that would be even gayer than the both of you combined. ACHTUNG!

I don't care about any of these Manty feuds, even though I like watching them and even spur them on. Hoping Jamie still shows up, despite all the controversy. I'm alright with the guy. He's kinda mopey, dopey, etc... but whatever.... Hoping Pete shows up, too. TANTRUMS REUNION (with fistfights).

My plan for NYE is to work, triple time! $75+/hr I'm all over that like a bum on a bologna sandwich! I'd love to see ya guys again, great show always. I think the problem is they are too much alike. Give eachother a reacharound and be done with it. I think it escalated when the Tantrums asked me to sing at a gig but didn't want Officer Brad to come up and drum. He was real offended by that. You'll have to come up, my new group with the moniker of The Trumpeting Sphincters may be ready to rock by then.

yeah I think my reaction pissed shimon off. I was drunk and didn't give a shit about it by the next day.  Any feud between us exists in his head only, I don't have a problem with him.

I really see no issue with doing songs from the 60's. I love BFTG and Nuggets shit. That's what my new band is doing as well as old hardcore type shit. LSOK chose to play some of the same songs the Tantrums covered so you couldn't have been too sick of it.

the big influence was I learned how to play guitar watching him years before joining the tantrums.  As far as originals, early lsok did 2 of his for every tantrums cover.  Off the top of my head great nigel originals were saturday evening girl, baby, hole in the matress, she's just a girl, I I i , holding my hand, my little girl, I'm young, etc
from 93 to 94 we wat@hed thee insects live vidoes every day and saw them live, we liked the one tantrums song on that bitty comp but it wasn't until 95 that I finally ran into you turds.

also I played all the early lsok gigs using his half stack, until we moved to florida right before new years 96...

if I thought it was the better band obviously I would have stayed here rather than move to florida.

in fall of 1993 I got a video of thee insects.  At that time, they were playing locally almost weekly and me and rj would always go see them play.  They even played at my 16th birthday party.  We first heard the tantrums in 1995 on bittys power ground video, one song.  We loved that song and played it endlessly, but we never saw the band or heard anything else of it until I joined the band.  You guys certainly influenced us as far as music we listened to, but nigel was way more of an influence on learning how to play our instruments and stage presence, by the time I joined the tantrums I had been playing guitar and drums for over 5 years, my style was pretty tight, it was a knowledge of cool music that was lacking.  I was already well aware of link wray, surf, nuggets, uk and new york punk etc.  What you guys did was open our eyes to amazing shit like back from the grave and killed by death.  Still, when you listen to thee insects originals and tantrums originals, it's obvious which were more of an influence on our music.  Also, me and rj were backing nigel at the same time as lsok and the tantrums, we even played some gigs where I was in all three bands at once!  On the other hand, well before I ever heard the tantrums I owned both depo records and had them memorized note for note, so of course shimon was a big influence to me early on.  So was radiohead though, so whatever.  Tantrums were awesome when we played with teengenerate, that was one of the most fun shows of my life.  I don't have a problem with jamie, any feud between us is only in his head.

the last two girls he had were wack
but all he fuckin wants his fingernials back
things are boring in wisconsin
it's a little tough for him to wiggle his jonhnson

bobber is out of the band.  I guess his crippled kid got to meet american idol last year and the one bitch donated 16 grand so he could get a lift from his wheelchair to the toilet.  Lots of pictures and boring stories.  Anyways I moved a speaker so I could hear my vocals better and he moved it back because he said he couldn't hear himself.  Well it's my speaker in my basement and he plays my bass, frankly I don't give a fuck if he can hear himself.  I told him his time as new guy ran out several months ago and if he wants to hear himself maybe he should get himself an instrument and amplifier.  Somehow he can afford a flat screen 48" tv and a gibson les paul but he doesn't have money for an amp?  So whose responsibility is it then?  I only expect the very least from people, so I kicked him out of the band.  So now were back to a four piece with my bro in law on bass.
