Title: Drum Machine Punk
Post by: T.Depression on May 06, 2011, 11:59:24 AM
I inherited a cassette duplicator and I'm starting a tape label to put out some drum machine punk stuff. I've got a couple releases lined up for the summer, and a couple reissues in the works. Always looking for new drum machine punk (of all varieties) to release...point me in the direction of some killer bands!

I've also got the project up on Indie Gogo to try to get some help with start up costs...feel free to toss me some cash...

At the risk of giving you obvious advice:  GET A FUCKING JOB!

You really are fundraising to start a cassette label? You have the duplicator (basically a dub deck), what else do you need for "start up"? Fucking blank cassette tapes. You need what? Twenty of them for your first release. That should run you all of $20, $40.... Really, it is obnoxious enough that people panhandle to start a record label, but spare-changing to start a cassette "label" is fucking absurd. Not only does the  world not need another fucking cassette "label", it certainly doesn't need one by someone who can't figure out a way to come up with $20.

People use those funding sites for far lamer things than to start up a cassette label that puts out drum machine punk bands. I thought why not give it a go and maybe raise a couple hundred bucks so I don't need to puts tapes and crap on a credit card...people seem to be into and it looks like it's panning out. What a shitty idea...

One word, sir: SCREENS. How else you gonna make Limited Edition Covers for these masterpieces?

Seriously, I don't even want to pick on Tiemen, but asking for money to do something this pointless, with that track record, requires some serious nerve.

That people use funding site for "lamer things" is no justification for doing something that is still lame. That people are sending you money given your track record of fucking up shit like this doesnt excuse polluting the world with another useless label, it just means people are idiots.

What a shitty idea...

I do agree with this.

My track record? Yeah...I sketched out and mailed a few records late, one time out of 16 years of putting out music. Guess everything else I ever do will be doomed for failure...

Maybe I'm missing something, but why name your project after a great straight-up punk rock song that a real drummer? Assuming Greg would consider drum machine cassette releases gay as fuck.

i did a project called CALIFORNIA FAGGOTS awhile back featuring two covers of songs with california in the name using a drum machine.  also did several songs as outerspacenigger a few years back with drum machine, including the legendary "OUTTASIGHT!"  if you want to make millions of dollars selling my tapes, hit me up with a contract...
