Title: info wanted: Prominent Disturbance/The Hams
Post by: joe_p on June 27, 2011, 12:37:24 PM
is anyone familiar with Prominent Disturbance-s/t LP Down And Out Records, 1984?  i was recently told that the label also released a record by a band called The Hams called something like "Giving Thanks/Thanksgiving".  i'm very interested in finding a copy.  thanks

I've been curious about The Hams for years, since Byron Coley compared somebody great to 'em (Dead C.?)

i have the PROMINENT DISTURBANCE LP, it's a obscuro Bay Area thang, i have it on my weird 80s secret shelf.

THE HAMS doesn't ring a bell, but it's possible I've seen it. I don't think the Bay Area geezer I bought doubles of PD from had it. That or it looks like a terrible record.

I immediately thought of the 80s reggae rock LP by THE HAGS

i have a copy of the PD.  "autistic" is a great way to describe it.

That or it looks like a terrible record.

The Hams 12" doesn't have a cover, just a white diecut sleeve.

Something to dig for at Comm Thrift then...

What's it sound like? Some kinda deliciously retarded post-something punk?

Anyone know who "BLunger" is on Discogs? He sent me a message about the Hams 12" that I now have in my collection asking what I know about it (which is still nothing) and I see he listed a third release on Down & Out by a band called "The Turks". I replied and told him the little I know about PD and The Hams and asked him about the Turks cassette but he never responded.

A sealed copy of the Prominent Disturbance LP popped up in the 'bay last night but already BIN'd for $49.99 (well worth it in my opinion) I thought I'd do a Google search for "prominent disturbance" to see if any info had popped up since I first posted this but it doesn't look like anything has... Thought I'd top this thread in the off chance the right eyes are looking..
