You and I are going, little shitbag.
-
Im gonna make it to this somehow....Saturday is too ridiculous to miss.
-
I'll be there Friday and Saturday. Sunday show looks gay.
-
Vinnie and I now have tickets for Friday and Saturday. Chuck Barrels.... GOIN' DOWN!
(on guys)
-
Sunday show does look a little weak....but Cold World and a costume contest with test presses for the winner? I'll probably go to that one if I'm already there!
-
The Sunday show is worth going to for Anagram alone.
-
Alex, can you help me find weed on Friday?
-
Does anyone know if the tickets are sold out for this yet? I got an e-mail from someone a few weeks ago telling me it was half sold out as of that point. I am going to find out on Monday if we can go to this (just got a new job, might not be able to get the Friday off, which would make going useless).
-
I think theres supposed to even be tickets at the door, I hope so, cuz i hate planning these things too far in advance!

Steve: I will sell you weed if we go (its what I do). Message me with your e-mail address. That goes for everyone else that's going to this, too. Make me your hookup and help me pay for this trip.
Awesome, thanks dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I've been at somebody from Fucked Up's house while they're tabulating the tickets. Friday is selling well, Saturday is almost sold out (limited tickets at the door for Toronto residents), Sunday is fair gayme.
The last two Fucked Up Hallowe'en shows were nuts so just cause a bunch of shitty indie-rock bands are playing doesn't mean you should skip it (unless you live far away).

What is the law with passport for entering Canada. Also is the 19+ rule going to be enforced. I'm only a ripe 18.
-
You don't need a passport until next year. Just bring drivers license and birth certificate if you don't have one.
-
they've sold out of saturday tickets, & now are only selling weekend passes.
-
The bars doing the 19+ shows have very good and reliable security. Bring fake ID and you might have a chance.
-
Just bought my weekend pass....no plans on how i'm getting there/where i'm staying, but dont want that shit to sell out! Guess I'll figure somethin out.

i already told you, you can probably stay with me friday & saturday.
-
i already told you, you can probably stay with me friday & saturday.
Sounds good to me, as long as it's cool with everyone. You're not staying for Sunday?
-
Any Toronto people familiar with any of the hostels located downtown? Decent places to stay? And any recommendations of a specific one?
-
So yeah, this is next weekend. Me and Schleep-O are going to be taking Toronto by storm.
Chuck Barrels you comin or what?
-
I'll be there Friday and Saturday. Bring pills.
-
I'm not. If I do they'l all be in my nostrils before we cross the border. The girl driving me and Steve will kill us if we try to smuggle drugs in.
-
Make Steve smuggle them up his ass like the drug mule he is.
-
i'm entering the country through Steve's ass.
-
You guys are a bunch of fuckin' queens.
-
vinnie - i wanna see that stylin grill!!
and seconded on the pills!
-
Drunk Idea. Dont stand next to me when they play Baiting the Public. Eh, Lets just leave it at that.
Regardless , someone better be in the hospital by the end of the Inmates set (could be me i dont care). Recent Cle shows have raised the bar - and aint hospitals there free anyhow!!!!
-
now thats one way to make sure we got painkillers for the sunday show!!!
-
I will have my hired goons fuck up ANYBODY who cause damage to the club at the Inmates show.
-
I keep hearing shit about getting turned away at the Inmates/Career Suicide show cuz the place is so small. Should I be worried about that? I'd hate to miss 9 Shocks, but I'd gladly go get in line during their set to make sure I see Inmates...
-
Yeah, If I miss Career Suicide I will kill someone (Steve)
-
I doubt theres any need to worry bout damage, their out-of-town shows dont seem to be as insane as when they play in Cle.
And yeah, what is up with getting into that show? I have the weekend pass, but assume that doesnt reserve you a spot at the aftershow. I'll be walking from the 1st show too - should I be planning on leaving early? Dont wanna miss 9 shocks since its probably their last show and all - but Inmates/CS I definitely wanna see more.
-
Personally, I suggested we start a line-up outside White Orchid and then let everyone in once the bands are set up, but Mr. Eliade nixed that idea. So instead the afterparties are indeed first come first serve. When it's full, it's full. Such is life.
-
I'm not really too concerned with seeing Fucked Up again, so I'll just leave.
-
I think 9 Shocks plays after FU on Saturday though.
-
I'm with Schleep, also I don't even know if I am going to get into the first show. Anywhere to get a fake ID in Toronto Pesci?
-
In that case Russ, I wouldn't mind missing 9 Shocks, I've seen them a few times and everytime was a letdown from their "extreme" and "crazy" antics.
-
Yeah Im gonna split during 9 shocks, check out a few songs since its their last show - Im way more interested in the aftershow though.

Stick with me duder, i'll get cha ins....
-
but Mr. Eliade nixed that idea.
This guy actually exists?
P.S. -- I won't be making it this weekend, to my undying regret (I just started a new job, so I can't leave early enough on Friday to make it for the one show that really matters), so I can't hook anyone up with pot, unfortunately, unless you want to make a pit stop in Montreal (and pick me up & drive me to the Saturday show). I can also sell Vinnie my expired medicare card (a valid photo ID in this country) if you want to make the detour.
-
Mark Pesci IS David Eliade.
-
talk about bad ideas
-
So what's gone down so far? how was the Friday show? The afterparties?
-
Shit was pretty sweet despite waiting in the rain to miss Brain Handle, us getting ditched, having to smoke/eat all our weed before the border, Canada not having beers that cost less than five dollars, Vinnie being a piece of garbage, and Chuck Barrels flaking Saturday when we needed someone to save us on Queen Street.
Sweet shit: hot dog stands, Cloud 9 head shop, awesome weed, Criminal Damage, Regulations, babes, punching Vinnie in the forehead.
-
Toronto is full of queens. everyone should live at Gorilla Monsoon's best bar in Canada.
so how awesome were Inmates/Career Suicide?
-
Friday was a bust for me - Accident on 401-E held up traffic for 4 hours. Got there in time to catch the last 20 minutes or so of Fucked up and missed everyone else. Bayonettes were cool, Brutal Knights better than on record (lots of energy and crowd went nuts) - still dont get the hype though.
Last night was pretty sweet - Formaldehyde Junkies and Darvocets ruled (mellowest Darvs crowd EVER - i dont think anyone besides the cle kids got them at all). Fucked Up were great - mix of old and new stuff. Still think Regulations are a snooze. Aftershow was great - Inmates were killer - place went nuts (not Clevo style nuts, but crazier than when I saw Inmates in Chicago).
People from all over the goddamn place, tons of Fucked Up merch - and very pricy alcohol. Passed on the matinee today, but headin to the 8pm show soon.
PS - CS were cool, tough to hear any vocals though and i was destroyed after the Inmates. Place still going nuts of course.
-
PSS - Yep, killer weed out here (thanks steve/vin!) and also I think Toronto has the hottest HC girls I've seen in any city.
-
Back home and recovered , so a few more impressions:
-Sunday night sort of a snooze overall. Was already worn out, and the crowd wasnt as big as the other nights, and no one really seemed to get into the openers - none of which were really HC.
-Anagram was sorta cool - definite Amrep/T&G influence to em, and some crowd confrontation that didnt seem completely forced.
-Cmon has to be the worst band I've seen all year. Guess the girl in the band used to be in Nashville Pussy as one of the replacements for the tall chick. They made NP sound good - total 3rd rate rawk.
-Cold World ruled! Completely ridiculous - I think one guy in the band (the guy dressed as an Indian) served no purpose in the band, except to do stagedives?
-Viletones reunion came very close to happening....they set up and the singer took off shortly beforehand and never came back. Guess he enjoyed Cmon about as much as I did.
-Fucked Up were good - this set recorded for a live LP. I was a little bummed how similiar the set list was for all three shows though, I figured with the length of the new LP, and playin 3 days in a row, they would've mixed it up more. I think this was the only show they played "Vivian Girls" at though.
-Dangerous Fumes Spanish language version only at this show, and an extra shirt design only available on Sunday. Didnt get lucky enough to get the "Coat Check" CDR (live CD randomly put in peoples coats at the mandatory coat check.). I guess Criminally Insane played at some point too? Didnt see that
Good weekend overall - mainly due to FU and the Cle bands - cool seeing some of the other Toronto bands too.
Oh yeah, Darvocets beercan cozys in their merch! And their new song about a time machine rules - its almost dancable!
-
Also creepy story I heard bout crossing the border - I guess chopping up drugs w/ your drivers license is a BAD idea....heard from a girl that she almost didnt get into canada, cuz they detected traces of coke and she hadnt even done any recently. Didnt say anything to me, but on the way back in - three cops ran up to my car before i even made to the inspection station. Seemed like they were waitin for my plate, and I dont have a criminal record at all.
Also pretty amazing no bands got turned away at the border, I anticipated at least a couple bands havin trouble.
-
Yeah, I had a friend who was busted for coke residue once.
What'd the cops do then, just run up to your car, look at you and then leave?
-
Yeah, just the standard questions about why I was in Canada, where I was headin and looked through the car a bit. No big deal really, the whole thing was quick and easier than getting into Canada - just seemed strange that I basically had to do the same thing twice, like they recognized my plates or somethin.
-
i could have easily brought a loaded m16 into that country.
i also left with a pipe.
-
I kinda wish I would have went Saturday to see Darvocets and Inmates, but I ended up with free tickets to the Sabres game so I went there and got drunk instead of driving two hours each way to stand in the rain for an hour waiting to get in (like I did Friday). Fucked Up were good on Friday night though. Pissed Jeans were phenomenal. I'm bummed I didn't get the 'Humos Peligrosos' 7", but I guess I'll have to live without it. I heard there was a Euro press of it too, on Hate Records....
-
DAMNIT RICH, I would have rather gone to the Sabres game.
-
Yeah, the German and Spanish records have the same songs (Dangerous Fumes b/w Fixed Race) - just the sleeve/lyric sheet is in Spanish for the Humos version. I thought the songs were actually sung in Spanish for that version, but they're not.
Inmates are playing in Cle early November at the Tower - probably a longer drive than Toronto, but thats the perfect environment to see em. They're really at the top of their game right now....even with Wedge's hand so fucked up that he needed to tape the drumstick to it to play Saturday.
-
i think all the shows were 19+ and I got into the friday and saturday ones and i'm only 18.
