Yeah, almost makes me feel bad for Soundgarden.

What an awful list.

Comments are gold too:

5FDP, Janes Addiction, And Soundgarden belong on this list, but skrillex? korn dubstep? the black keys? you have evanescence, lacuna coil, chevelle, godsmack, or SOAD and many more bands that are way better and still making music. this is a bulls**t list.

"No idea why most of these people are on here. Tool, sure they belong, but where's Nine Inch Nails, Red, Breaking Benjamin, Avenged Sevenfold, Chevelle, Alter Bridge, Foo Fighters, etc...

i'd ask the same thing. if you're gonna put fucking tool on there, you might as well drag in the rest of the hot topic crew

Just looked at that list and since i only know some/most names from working at a shop 4+ years ago, i have to ask- is that even a current list??  So dumb that people might read that shit, and so outdated even on whatever mainstream level i don't know shi* about.  Have i stumbled upon the pop-punk board is this simply the proto- pop-punk board?

Ah, yeah, i do know that is some current thing- but still dumb/funny that this is what passes for content or what is being 'pushed' upon the masses.  Rock-write sucks, always has, exceptions few and far between.

The Jane's tune was pretty sweet, and Skrillex is wickked too.  Dunno why they named so many bands who aren't doing new stuff, though.  Smashing Punkins?  And where are the Chilli Peppers?  Californication was awesome.

picking inactive bands was probably better, actually...the active ones they named are just about all horribad. are there actually people who like this 5 Finger Death Punch bullshit?

red hot chili peppers is probably the only legitimate contemporary mainstream rock band around. i don't even like their early shit, but in a stadium/arena context you can't fuck with their output after the "classic" album.
