Title: I've started a blog
Post by: Signed, Eric Cecil on November 13, 2006, 04:47:33 PM
http://attackingthebeat.blogspot.com/

Some music-oriented material, but mostly whatever the hell I feel like writing -- I'm trying to get back to doing this on a regular basis.  Comments, criticism and outright taunting and laughing are all welcome.

Awesome. I also have a blog spot up at www.mattcoppens.blogspot .com Mine is mostly material you can find in my zine and was/is written as means of therapy in a way. Yeah yeah, I'm crying you a river. Keep it coming, ERic.

Matt, I've been reading your blog here and there, too.  I'm glad you're doing something with your writing -- saw the listing for a reading at Quimby's.  I need to get one of those 'zines.

we have the same layout. tried to comment but wouldnt let me cuz i'm not a team member, but was gonna say that i think "thomas edison" is actually the better of the two tunes (both rule of course). just surprised you consider it a throwaway.

I hope you start writing about fucking again.

Art: Maybe "throwaway" was harsh, but I love "The Things That You Do" so much that it's hard for me to even consider the other track.  Not a bad song by any means, but I didn't flip for it like I did the other.

Kevin: I'm sure I will at some point.

Looks like you already are. Yer dialogue is good. I always thought that's the most difficult part about writing "fiction."

Updated again.  If she ever read this, she would murder me.

Eric, while you clearly have your own voice, I can't stop thinking "Bukowski."

I can't stop thinking "no girls come over my house to bang"

I can't stop thinking "he looks like a penis, but he's alright."

I said that once, didn't I?

You did.  The second-funniest line said in deference to my character.  The first is Tim Cecil's deadpan utterance of "He's a goddamn dream, folks -- look at him" when I was too drunk to stand in front of members of my extended family and his coworkers.

Eric, while you clearly have your own voice, I can't stop thinking "Bukowski."

People have said the same shit about stuff I've written; it's sort of unavoidable. If you're writing minimalistic stuff in low diction and you're writing about "lowly" subject matter (drunken debauchery, loose women, etc) it's hard NOT to sound like that. I dunno...plus who isn't influenced by Bukowski? He's like The Ramones/Sex Pistols for morons who have no writing talent but feel like anybody can do it (not saying Eric can't write, just talking about Buk fans in general).

The offer stands, my friend...erotic stories, lemme see if I can pull some strings.

I'm far more obvious about ripping off authors who aren't Bukowski, but I don't really care who compares me to what.  I'm more interested in whether or not Dave can line up a paying gig writing erotic trash-fiction.  I'll be the Danielle Steele of the genre.

Do any of you guys use Livejournal? I'm in the process of getting a blog and they seem cool and all, but without other folks having a blog you can't get comments. Seems like a drawback. Nobody really seems to have a blog. Then again, nobody really seems to have a livejournal. Whatever. Same shit, different rectum.

I've been telling Eric what a great instinctual writer he was since he was a wee nip. I don't think he ever believed me, though. Glad you finally came around to digging the "Fuck" LP, Eric - I've bought that thing for a buck 4-5 times & given it away, and eventually everyone comes back raving.

A couple of years ago a friend of mine in LA who has made some dough writing porn was trying to start a "sex" zine with me. It was going to be all sex based. I wanted to interview Eugene Robinson. I already had some sub-Henry-Miller's-UndertherooftopsofParis-via Green Bay (+harddrugs) of my own. Abortion porn, really. The first person who came to mind on the project was Mr. Penis. Laziness prevailed; however, like usual.

I dug the entry about Grong Grong.  Helluva lotta fun, that record.  At times, I've felt like conning the rest of the AKE boys into doing "Angels and Demons" just for fun.  I mean, we've got phase pedals, meaty bass and a growling idiot vocalist, so it might not suck too bad!

When's the entry on King Snake Roost?  Or dontcha like em'? Who wants to sell me the King Snake Roost records I don't have, i.e.  all of them except for the first one "From Barbarism to Christian Manhood"????

I used to write my own erotic fiction just so I'd have something to jerk off to.  It was total masturbatory drivel...
