Friends, enemies, countrymen --
DREAMSALON is a Seattle concern comprised of former members of such luminaries as A Frames, Factums, Evening Meetings & even more bands. They have one LP on Captcha Records, and another one is imminent:
http://dreamsalon.bandcamp.com/
CYANIDE TOOTH is the paranoid fantasy of the former singer of Family Curse & Golden Error. A cassette release on Ever/Never is in the offing.

If anyone in NYC will rent us some amp heads, we would be very grateful. Or suggestions on where to look...
I'm hoping we have some merch to bring with us. We only have a handful of copies of "Thirteen Nights" (test pressings) left. And things are running down to the wire on the next album "Soft Stab", and I'm hoping we have test pressings of that with us for sale as well as cassettes. We'll see...

OK, about totally booked. Just waiting on venues for Chapel Hill and Cleveland.
Anywhere you have in mind already? Seems like a show for the Cave or the Nightlight. Alternately, the Pinhook in Durham, Slim's or Neptune's in Raleigh. But Chapel Hill is probably your best bet.
-
Emailed Nightlight yesterday on Mark Daid's suggestion.
Put a good word in? Who should we play with? Gotta band? What's your Social?

Was just there a few minutes ago. Shoulda asked Charlie what was up, but y'know, Liquor Store.
-
I do know Liquor Store! and I still need a show. These things are not mutually exclusive.

I'm not in a band, but the Nightlight/All Day Records (I think they're owned by the same guy) have some connections with local noise acts. There's this label, Hot Releases, that does a lot of synth, techno, and noise stuff: http://hotreleases.bandcamp.com/
Not all of it's from the Triangle, but a lot is. Though if you're more interested in punk bands from the area...Cantwell, Gomez, and Jordan (artsy punk skronk). Drug Yacht (noisy punk with some Touch and Go moves). Whatever Brains don't make it out to Chapel Hill that often, but that would be a great show. Also on the Raleigh tip, a handful of post-Double Negative bands. Davidians are the one that sticks out to my (poor) knowledge of that whole scene.
I haven't lived here that long and am not connected personally with a lot of these people, but I probably know people who know people. Hope any of this helps.

Haha. Maybe you misunderstood that one. Was sayin that I was distracted by the rawk/good times and didn't think to ask Charlie about, y'know, you. Sorry.
-
I understood perfectly, my friend. My reading comprehension is off-the-fucking-charts.
Jalape?o, thanks for the band tips. Haven't heard from Nightlight. Venue comes first, bands come later. Then, finally, I cum.
Would be open to something between DC & Charlotte, although the Triangle still seems the best option.

O Chapel Hill, I sing a song to thee....

SILENT LUNCH

Kick-off show this FRIDAY @ Trans-Pecos (L train to Halsey) is gonna be in the basement, so Excepter can have their E-fueled record release party feat. DJ Keith Connolly (aka The Angriest Hippie In The World). I don't even mean that sarcastically.
Old-school basement rockin' inna midwest stylee. Come give us money. and see Deaf Wish.
STILL LOOKING FOR A SHOW FOR SUNDAY OCT 5th SOMEWHERE between DC & CHARLOTTE
Atlanta show is being moved. More info as I have it.
-
What's the basement of that place like now? Similar to how it was at Silent Barn?
-
Haven't seen it, but dude said it's cleaned out, but not rehabbed like the upstairs.
You should see it now. You wouldn't even recognize the place. It looks fucking great, I gotta say.
All new hardwood floors, stage w/ big loud PA. Walls were busted down, so it's shaped differently now. Your old room is basically the bar now.
Also, they busted out the back wall where the bathrooms are, and there is a massive cement-floored courtyard that's open. You could fit like 300 people back there easily. It's all fenced in, picnic tables etc. Can smoke whatever. Def doesn't have the grimey feel of the old space, but it makes up for it with the minimal design. And now that DBA is closing, I think it might become the go-to for those types of shows. Which is cool with me cuz it's close to my house and they've been cool to deal with so far.
Oh yeah, and the bar/brothel next door is closed, which is good, and maybe a lil bad.

Haven't seen the basement yet, but the upstairs has been fixed up rather nicely. Nothing huge but they built a small stage where the kitchen was and built seating along the walls. What was a bedroom (Yrs. Kevin?) is now sort of the bar (Liquor license soon they say). The biggest deal is the back yard. They knocked down that wall that was right outside the back door and now have the whole back between their building and the buildings towards Weirfield street. Tables and chairs out there make it a nice place to hang between bands or in general at least while the weather is nice enough.

Is there a friggin echo in heah??

Atlanta show has fallen through. Thoroughly bummed, please advise ATLiens.
-
Who does the booking there? That sounds pretty cool, potentially.
I really liked doing stuff in the basement. What's the situation with the neighbors? There was families that lived behind there before, and that was one of the reasons we didn't really have outside hangs before. Are they able to do stuff late?
-
Various people do booking. Seems Sam from Zs oversees it.
Yes on late. Yes on loud.
NEED SHOWS

Kick-off tonight @ Trans-Pecos.
915 Wyckoff Ave
L train to Halsey stop
Starts at midnight!
$8
DEAF WISH (last)
DREAMSALON
SILK PURSE
CYANIDE TOOTH (first)
A note about alcohol. Trans-Pecos is very close to getting their full liquor license but for tonight, the bar will be a dry one. You can BYOB but the catch is that it must be poured into a container first. Not a styrofoam cup but some other liquid container like a Gatorade bottle or something of that nature. The cops told them this, so they don't get fucked right before they get a full bar. So have some respect and bring your fun juice in an age-inappropriate container.
And buy merch from Dreamsalon and Deaf Wish. Unfortunately, I won't have the CYanide Tooth cassette until tomorrow but I'll have it on tour. It's the best thing since Chance Meeting ...
