Title: WTB: Homosexuals LP
Post by: unsympathetic_horse on June 08, 2017, 09:59:49 AM
Anybody have a spare copy of this and want some dough? I passed this up a few times over the years and I woke up this morning thinking to myself: "I feel like listening to the Homosexuals record"--but I can't, because I don't own a copy.

Isn't In The Red supposed to be reissuing this soon?

Haha. It is sort of weird that the In The Red 2xlp never came out. Wasn't that in the works since 2009 or so? I always assumed Bruno was nuts and prevented it from coming out or something. At this point everything under the sun has been reissued, so I assume there's some ridiculous reason why, say, L.Voag has been reissued and not the Homosexuals proper.

If others have the same difficulties dealing with Mr Wizzard that Chuck Warner had it'll never come out again. Which is a shame. Perhaps more of a shame (or equal....) is the wealth of material that was lined up for Magical Clamour the proposed follow up to Astral Glamour. That's something I'd really like to hear.

It'll be of no comfort to hear that less than 10 years ago Recommended/ReR Megacorp had piles of the Homos LP for sale cheap on their website at around ?8 a pop. Someone must have discovered them and cleaned them out.

Fuck I should've been paying more attention to websites back then. First time I heard the Recco LP was prob 2000/2001 and then it started (Homo obsession). Guess I just assumed the LP was long gone.

Bummer about that follow-up collection, don't think I knew about that. Bruno is a nutball, but a pretty funny dude. I miss seeing him in out-of-the-way places in NYC. He was here for a few years, played some great shows.

It is a small consolation that this never happened.  The LP was in high demand by the early '00s, and then Recommended reissued it as a CD in 2003 (still available for 5 pounds).  Commies but not rubes, RecRec didn't have a fire sale on still-sealed copies.

The LP shows up on the reg in the $50 - $100 range, which isn't bad considering what a Liza and Louise 7" cover variant will set you back these days.

I've no doubt taken some poetic Alzheimer licence with the exact date, price (and of course number of available copies as I can only guess at that) but no - unlikely tho this sounds it is in fact true. Now you've put me on the spot I'd stretch the date a bit further back to maybe 12 years max - 2005 earliest. The LP was not in any fire sale for sure but the vinyl section of the ReR website had copies for sale at their standard new LP price for Recommended label titles along with other original unsold stock. I already had a minty second hand copy so didn't bother 1st time I saw it - had no idea it had a potential collector flip value. A year later when I became aware, I went back to have another look but they'd all gone. There may have been a handful - there may have been 50+!

I guess I'll just cuddle with my copy of "Hearts In Exile" and dream the big dream.
