I originally put this out in 2003 following the double vinyl tribute for Jim "Matter Dominates Spirit" that I put out with Chris Loper in 2001. I originally put this out in small batches with every batch being different. For the 20th. Ann. of Jim's death (10/16/18) I wanted to share it one last time. These links expire in 1 day. Thanks Charles! I was gifted about half the CDs from this set several years ago, so I look forward to having the rest of it finally.
I dunno if it was noted here, but Nudge and Byron Coley put together a cassette release of audio letters that Jim sent to Nudge during the mid-80's. I still haven't given my copy a listen yet (waiting for the "right" time) but I've listened to a bunch of the audio letters already from Nudge's massive digital archive, and the recordings I've heard are incredibly intimate. You can hear him demo songs while the TV and his family play in the background.

Actually the cassette you mentioned was produced by me. And yes it is letter tapes Jim sent to Squid when he was in Nashville.

Charles, I can't thank you enough for this. Jim has been my patron saint artist since his stuff finally clicked for me a few years back (I'll admit to not quite getting it at first). It's no exaggeration to say that I listen to him every day (either thru actual speakers or in the stereo of my mind). Snagged the letter tapes from Feeding Tube, found em very moving, and particularly enjoyed reading the accompanying Letters themselves. If I were a wealthy and powerful individual I would commission a biography to be written about him, to be published by one of the majors (Random House, Penguin, something like that) so that the general public could better know the true Jim, whatever that is. I guess it's here, and in his work.
Have also enjoyed yr youtube page over the past little while. Inspiring content. Hope you like compliments. byebye.

Here's the thing I have no problem creating and reposting the links and I love to share - especially when I am sharing Jim's incendiary work, but what is making me hesitant to keep reposting links is how people tell me they so badly want this and okay I repost and then I never hear anything back - maybe a thanks, but not another word - no feedback - nothing - making me feel like what's the point of going to the trouble again.

Hey Charles, sorry I never got back to you besides thanking you for sharing. To be honest, I haven't gotten to listen to it yet. It's the type of thing where I want to put aside 2-3 hours to really dig into it, and not something I just throw on to have music playing.

I was going through some boxes a few weeks back (like a lot of us are doing nowadays) and I came upon a DVD-R with "vertical slit" written on it. Couldn't quite figure out what it was at first but with Tom Lax's help I realized it's Jim's rip of the Vertical Slit VHS tape. The last section is from the CBGB's set which I believe is on youtube in parts at least. Trying to decide if I should try ripping this myself and what's the best way to do it
