Live recordings made in a basement in MIlwaukee, WI in 2003. Each set is one long mp3 file. Sorry, but I don't have time be be going through each one and dividing up songs. Recorded on minidisc with clip on microphones, so don't expect "Live at Budokan" type fidelity here. It definitely fits in the budget category.I boosted all the volume, but no other sound manipulation.
Marked Men, Catholic Boys, Sagger, Motorcycle Prom Dates, Reacharounds @ Endless Nameless in Milwaukee, WI July 31, 2003
Notes:
I love the Sagger singles and this was the only time I got to see them. They played first and I remember it still being light outside. Quick set and not a whole lot of people at the house yet, but I enjoyed it. Reacharounds were next and I had no idea who they were at the time. I liked what I heard, but they had a lot of equipment problems. Guitar player broke a string and there were 3 minutes of total silence recorded while she changed a string, or got another guitar (don;t remember which) so i cut those 3 minutes out of the recording for sharing purposes. Then it seems her amp died about a song an a half later and their set was done.
I have taken it upon myself to listen to every minute on my tapes while I try and transfer them and catalog them. On the same disc was an unlabeled set. It turns out it was a band called the Motorcycle Prom Dates. I only figured that out because they said so at the start of the set.
Next, was the Catholic Boys. After an intro by the legendary Richard Adventure they were off and on fire. This was the second or thrid time I saw them and by far the best. Possibly the best set I ever saw them do. It was everything great about them. Lots of heckling by the local crowd. Songs that seemed on the verge of falling apart, but always seemed to keep it together. During this set "Latch On" and "Taking the City by Storm" are the prime examples. There are moments were it seems the song is going off track, but then suddenly they will click back together and tear shit up. This was a basement show and by this time I was getting a bit drunk, so I had to edit out a couple of times where I started screaming for the Catholic Boys to play their cover of "I Got A Right" (Which they eventually did). I was usually good about being quiet, but sometimes when the beer is flowing like Champagne it can'be be helped.
I was probably outside drunkenly gabbing away when the Marked Men started, so you hear me walking into the basement during their first song. A killer set and definitely the best of the three times I saw them.
So, enjoy and more to come, probably:
