Alright, so I have been using this extra time at home to sort, transfer, and catalog my live concert recordings. Here is a local show that a feel some would like to hear/have. Some of you may still have a disc Jeff or I gave you back in the day, others may have once had and since lost that disc. Here is a fresh transfer for anyone who wants.
I am going to keep the writing to just show reviews from now on because I think people don't want to read all my ramblings. Functional Blackouts opened this show, but we walked in as they were going into their first or second song. I have been hot and cold on them. Didn't like them much at first, but really came around to them later. Sometimes I don't feel like starting a recording if the band is already going, and this time I got a beer instead. Kind of regret it now, but hindsight and all.
Black Lips were good, but the manic behavior was starting to subside and the songs were still there. I think this was the last time I saw them and I don't really regret that. I have a feeling live they were still good for awhile after this, but Let It Bloom, which they are still playing most of here, is their last album I feel the need to own.
Dirtbombs were the headline act, and this was the first, and only time, I saw the post Tom Potter and Jim Diamond set up. I did like that some of the older songs were back in the set and I did like most of Dangerous Magical Noise, which they play from here. However, they ended the night on a 15 minute "jam," with just drumer solos for about half of that. All momentum of anything they had going in this set just stopped cold. I have to admit, while I was transferring this set from minidisc to my computer I started doing the dishes during the drum solo part. Lost interest even now.
Enjoy and remember that you are able to download either/ both sets as one long file by hitting the MORE button.
