Title: The Hives "Tussels In Brussels"
Post by: Les Hefareeno on December 02, 2005, 06:54:03 PM
I dunno what the general consensus of this band is on here, but I picked up their DVD last night and it made me realize how much i liked them and how much i still like them. Really well done, maybe one of the top concert DVD's I've seen. And the "documentary" (narrated by Little Steven) is one of the funniest and fucked up films I have ever seen. And I know fucked up films, I live in Canada, eh.

Not that I've heard much Hives but they're ok. Little Steven though.. I hate that guy.

Little Steven Van Zandt is six thousand times cooler than anyone who has ever posted on this message board for one reason and one reason alone: HE PLAYS SYLVIO ON THE SOPRANOS. That trumps anything you can name. Listen "suburban rocks," I think you owe a great man an apology.

"Ohhh!"

Best catchphrase ever.

Old Hives is a pretty hot combo of Makers and New Bomb Turks. Dismissed them, then eventually heard 'Barely Legal,' and thought it was purty tight.

i like the hives, i don't care what people might say about them. they put on an  energetic show, and the dvd captures that pretty well.

I like the Hives too. I thought they put on a great show the one time I saw them with the Dirtbombs.

Saw em' open up for International Noise Conspiracy at some tiny bar show once just prior to the MTV blitz...they fuckin' killed. I don't think they are amazing or anything, but I can definately see why somebody from a major would take a chance on them if they saw the live show. Very professional and energetic rock show...supa loud Twin reverbed out guitar at that thing.

i like 'em.  some of their best stuff is from b-sides.  i dont care for the first gearhead lp much, though. they got better as they got bigger.  plus... if 12 year olds like them and they're doing pretty kick ass saints covers...that cant be a bad thing.

Not to go on about Le Hives, but when they were playing, they all wore tight t-shirts on with their names imprinted on the front. When they got offstage, they were walking around trying to hit on a buncha girls from the unreceptive audience. Their English being how you say no so good (as was the musical taste of the chicks in question) they pretty much got blown off by all the ladies.

Bet those beauty queens were wishing they'd been a little nicer when they saw the Hives take over the Em Te Vee a few months later. Ouch babes!
