Music Shit / Re: Worst Record Store, Ever.
« on: June 08, 2009, 12:47:41 PM »
We like to give everything a chance in the store for less than the going eBay rate first before putting it on eBay.

Our idea being: Why would people continue to shop at a store when they can buy it online for the same price?

The only things that go straight to eBay are more traditional jazz/vocalist expensive records (like Billie Holiday originals), modern indie/metal that goes for wayyyy more than it would sell for in the store and sealed classic rock records.

Anything cool we try to put out so people can see we get good things all the time.

To address the person who said in the "best record store" thread that the employees buy all the good records: They definitely buy some good stuff, but nobody can afford everything they want and plenty of people here will tell you that good punk/psych/out-jazz/experimental goes out all the time. It just sells super fast. Usually in a day.

Also, a lot of the employees at both shops like genres of music that isn
t discussed much here. One guy only buys House and reggae. Someone else is only into 50's jazz. The three guys that post here are your only competition, so to speak.

So if LP's don't sell in 3-4 months, they're dead?

Sad. Those are good records.

What's wrong with having good music in stock?

Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / Re: OHSEES 12" on AWESOME VISTAS
« on: November 14, 2008, 12:03:31 AM »
Ok.

We were supposed to get the "maximum amount" allowed per store. Last time I checked at the distributor site it was "sold out." But I haven't seen it for sale. I was emailing the distro BEFORE it was listed as available. Whether or not we (and other people who contacted well in advance) are the reason it's sold out remains to be seen.

I haven't gotten an invoice, so I'm fearing we're not getting any.
12
No wholesale on this?

We're also wondering.

Probably a hold-up at the plant, it's not yet listed from the distributor.

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Re: New Crystal Stilts LP
« on: October 28, 2008, 10:58:11 AM »
How do you guys price all the Siltbreeze stuff?  isn't that stuff all like $10 wholesale?  Or $9.15 or something weird?  I mean among tons of other examples too of course.  Just seems like many more peeps is going that route charging a lot wholesale.

We usually have to put $15 on Siltbreeze stuff.

I actually don't see it as gouging, records should be more expensive. Way more expensive to make these days. We still have 90's prices in our heads.
