Five Americans - Good Times/The Losing Game - HBR
Fortress - s/t - On Havoc, private metal from Kansas City, MO. Found two sealed copies in a stack of Missouri and Shooting Star records, so that was neat!

This reminds me of my high school music teacher... Before he came along nobody really cared about classical music or no theory but he made it cool by showing us how it related to Louie Louie or something. Basically opened up a whole new world for me. Anyway, his son went deaf listening to firetrucks in the local parade and then Mr. Holland had to learn to live with that so there was this whole big thing and he really liked the Beatles or something... Yeah, this is a lot like that.

Cool, made a very similar butternut squash/apple soup for new years at work a couple years ago, and for thanksgiving at home last year. Can't remember what I garnished it with but I think the only variation was I roasted the apples with a touch of sugar and cinnamon first and roasted the butternut squash with salt and pepper. Ginger is essential! Gonna do a crown roast for thanksgiving this year and fry a turkey or two... Gotta go get one of those redneck turkey fryers and a bunch of peanut oil soon...

Paul Collins - King of Power Pop - Digging the title track, and This is America quite a bit... actually the whole thing is pretty great! "Now I'm a daddy but I still play my guitar" is a killer line.

Ton o' Rumpleminz last night, love that stuff for some reason... Drinking a lot of Schlafley Oktoberfest, Boulevard Bob's 47, and Arcadia IPA lately...

If you can, catch the Hanna Barbarians or Under Ogre while you're in town. They have to be the first local bands in about eight years of living here that I actually dig.

Oh look another completely inessential release by another incredibly mediocre band. Paypal'd.

Saw Happy Birthday at SXSW and was pretty unimpressed but the record kills. Girls FM is the obvious jam but Cracked, Perverted Girl, and Subliminal Message are all great as well, actually I can't think of a song on here that I don't like, except maybe Fun.

Today - found a second copy of Smoke's Risin' album on J-Bridge, found the first one in the same place maybe a month or so back, both were a couple of bucks...sweet!
Yesterday - Tomorrow on Import, pretty pleased with the past couple of days...
