About colored vinyl - I got one on color. I was happy when it showed up. Why? Because I got the email early, went to the site, and purchased it. I'm going to keep it. I am way more inclined to buy from a label directly when there is the possibility of getting a mail order only edition. Whether it's a sleeve variation, or colored vinyl, or even an exclusive poster, I would rather buy this copy than some black copy from a store. I'm a collector, so I like the collectible version. I would be happy with the black vinyl and listen to it, but I'm glad it's on color. I do view it as a way for labels to say thank you to the fans of a band or particular label.

Just because some asshole puts up a record on ebay right away is no reason for labels to stop doing colored vinyl. Flippers will always flip. Idiots will always buy them for an inflated price. I don't think cutting out limited mail order editions is the answer.

I had to sit through every one of these shitty bands at one time or another to get to the band I wanted to see. Fucking awful.

yeha man, must suck to have to sit through actual good bands while you are prepping yourself for the vandals or teen idols

Nope, hated that shit too. Come to think of it, I have no idea why I was at half of these shows. Nothing better to do I guess... Let's go to Homewood.

Priest!

I can put on any one of five of their albums any day of the week and have it be awesome. They can even make the occasional ballad palatable.

Pop Punk / Re: Keeping original vs. reissue

I've always had a problem with this too. Like, DEVO. I have all of the originals, yet I'm still tempted to buy the color reissues. Why? Or the Sonic Youth reissues that are going to happen. I don't know if I feel I need to collect them, or I'm looking for better sound quality. But I still NEED the original. What the hell is wrong with me?

Sounds like Shout with a modern twist... and neither of those are good on their own, yet alone together.

I really like DEVO and will probably buy it, but I doubt I'll ever really listen to it (if I go for a DEVO album, it's one of the first few) and I would have been much happier with the album that should have come out after Duty Now, but before Freedom. I guess that sound wouldn't fly these days. It has to have that stupid dance beat that all radio indie rock has now. Hipster disco.

1200 LPs
1700 45's
30 cassettes (unfortunately increasing because of the growing popularity in this retarded format)
50 CDs (mostly singles and promos)
0 reel-to-reels (though I'm looking for The Slider if anyone has one)

I have a copy of Damaged with the anti parent sticker on it. I'd be willing to trade or something. I think I have the music war 7-inch also.

Music Shit / Re: Worst voices to your ears

Steve Diggle might be fine on his own, but next to Pete Shelley, well, I usually skip the Diggle songs. But to put him in any sort of worst category, or on par with fuckheads like David Byrne was kind of an exaggeration.

I can see Morrissey, in fact, I'm surprised he wasn't mentioned more. But I do like him quite a bit, so he gets a pass.
