I remember seeing bands at the Fireside and thinking how pathetic and nonthreatining it all was. No diss to any of those bands or the people involved but I still could't understand why it was called punk in the first place? It was happy, cheeky, cute, very SUBURBAN. I called it "sweater" rock cos all those dudes wore stupid thick framed glasses and tight v-neck sweaters. Then there was the Riot Grrrls!!!!The only real punk band around(Chicago) in my opinion was Los Crudos, but Martin's ramblings was too much for me. I spent my weekends sk8in downtown and going to Chicago House parties instead. Then I witnessed Sin Orden a few years later and the rest is history. Punk is not pop if you call it that then stop.
