And this is kind of what I was getting to...a lot of people look at some of the shit I listen to and just don't understand how I listen to it, but nostalgia plays a role in my musical taste quite a bit.

I hear ya. I think it's one of those things that fit better with the time it came out, and in fact there have been things a lot like it that I've spoken with some of my older friends about (who were really into music in the 60s) and they all say the same thing: "You'd like it better if you were around when it came out." I dunno though...I mean to be sure there are lots of things that are considered groundbreaking and epic that I can technically understand the popularity of but that I just don't like for reasons of taste or whatever.
As for me, I've been listening to the Back from the Grave series quite a bit recently.
