Meshkalina, I'm pretty happy w/ the one I posted - and the other CD-R thing I made has "The Medium Was Tedium"....so are you recommending something for #3?

I could not have said it better myself, Denkinger. Fly Ashtray put records out after I put out Superdope #5 that, while decent enough, very quickly me to turn away from them. I believe I only have the two 45s left in my collection any longer, right where I started in 1993.

Oh yeah, I remember, and I was a big fan of some of the most vile, disgusting bands on the planet. Still am! Drunks With Guns are pretty tame if you look closely at what they're singing about. It's all inward-focused. They're the losers, ready to kill themselves or whatever. I can totally get in the mood for that vibe. And not to beat a dead horse, but even the Brainbombs stuff from the early 90s totally holds up musically. My point was and remains that it looks a lot more stupid in the rear-view mirror than it did at the time, and I'd have preferred to maybe not have given those guys a platform for their shtick if I was doing it again now.

Fair enough, but sometimes something is so preposterous or bad that you can't help but have it bum your high. Like when a band starts a song out with Walking down the street, or Call her up on the telephone. Or I Fucked Anne Frank, for instance. Then one cant help but notice just a little.

Appreciate the lovers and the haters equally. One of you, dekinger,  nails it with the subjective-as-objective ruse I like to employ in sticky situations, but really, is there TRULY no universal bullshit detector that readers of Terminal Boredom employ? I happen to think that quote-unquote rape rock fails to pass the sniff test these days, if it ever did. It might piss people off, it might make them uncomfortable, but lyrics such as those of The Brainbombs, as so admirably provided to us by heroinsucks, are hideous and deplorable in any other context outside of heavy, plodding rock and roll.

I dont think it is particularly brave of me nor anyone else to call out this sort of shit as idiotic, puerile and maybe indicative of some low-grade sociopathy. And amazingly, the band continued this tiresome act well into the 21st century. That fails the BS detector in a big way for me.
