Non-Music Shit / running a record label/mailorder

If you order an album, and pay 17.75 with shipping from Canada,you just got a steal of a fucking deal.
Don't email me a week after ordering and ask where it is...shut up and wait until it shows up.

I go once every week (or 2 max)
this is not intended at the Termbo crowd. I know all the people on here who order from me, and they're all patient and reasonable. But certain records have garnered attention from different crowds, and now I've got to answer 5 emails a day about orders that were placed last week, which shipped yesterday.
I'd love to hear about the experiences of some of you who have been in similar situations.
I wanna know about all you people running distro/mailorders. Do you ever just lose it on people?

GGR010 - the VISITORS - AVENGING THE VISIGOTHS - LP
The VISITORS come from a faraway place. They keep an apartment in Ottawa to stay in touch with the scene. This is the scene that built their empire, an empire which they rule over, and visit often. Ottawa knows a good band when it hears one, and the VISITORS are definitely a local favourite. This 3 piece male ?n female combo have the songs and the raw energy that can turn a stranger into a fan. What you have here is the latest 6 cuts of the VISITORS best! Trading off vocals between all three members, the righteous 3 piece format delivers unrelenting downstrokes, fast 4?s, and great melodies. They say they wanna sit between the Riverdales, the Ramones, and Iron Maiden. I always think of the Tyrades meets the Marked Men. Erin has a voice that?s rough in all the right ways?no wimpy girl voice!. Skottie from the CREEPS is on guitar duty here! And Berger?s been playing pop punk drums (well!) for like 15 years! Highly recommended for fans of any of those name drops. This limited edition pressing of 300 copies is housed in a full colour jacket, with a 2 sided full colour insert. A MUST have for any punk rock record fan!

ZEBRASSIERES is fashionably good, fashionably stylish, and fashionably unforgettable. This relatively unheard of Ottawa band popped out of a few different networks sometime in 2008. They created a style and a sound of their own. A 4 piece setup, guitar, bass, farfisa organ, and drums, shared vocals, huge hooks, awesome singing, and great melodies. The songwriting is somewhere between pop, oddity, and straight ahead punk. This album marks their first 8 songs ever to see the light of day. Recognizable similarities tie them to bands like the Okmoniks, the Dickies, Devo, and the Spits. This super special record is limited to 330 copies. All copies are housed in a full colour jacket, and all copies are pressed on 1 sided wax!!! This is a must have. People will be talking about this in the future once they?re more known, I know, and that?s why I put it out. Grab yourself a copy, before you?re stuck with the option of a 4th or 5th pressing!

A satisfying mix of stuff like STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, the BOYS, and the BARRACUDAS. These handsome leather jacket boys can write a pretty 'n mean song, and this 3 track 45 delivers that message!

There's a little city in the heart of the Canadian Shield called Sudbury. Some of you may know the infamous Stomping Tom Connors song about the town...atleast the Cannucks will know it! Others may have heard of Sudbury's other prime export.......killer punk rock bands!! Bands like UV RAY, the STATUES, & STRANGE ATTRACTOR, call the big nickel homebase. Rob of the Statues, a GOGO's superfan, decided put together the gogo's of his own, so he picked up the drumsticks, and clicked the 4-count. These guys and gals turned in an incredible demo. I liked it so much I decided to turn 2 of my faves into wax. Here you have it, a beautiful 2 song classic!

OTTAWA GAGA - COMPILATION LP - GGR005
the latest GOING GAGA RECORDS release just arrived in the mail!!!
It's a compilation LP of 15 Ottawa bands.
featuring the BEACH BLANKETS, the VISITORS, the SEDATIVES, the MOTHER'S CHILDREN,
the BOTCHED SUICIDES, the BAND WHO'S NAME IS A SYMBOL, the MILLION DOLLAR MARXISTS,
the SUPPOSITORIES, the CREEPS, the FELINES, the SAVAGE CRIMES, the FUCKING MACHINES,
the HOLY COBRAS, the WHITE WIRES, and URANIUM COMEBACK.
I am really proud of this one!
It was a feat of pure strength and luck getting these 15 bands into the
studio...but the final product is really impressive.
I got my friend Luke (bass player of the White Wires) to lend me a room at
his studio,
Got my friends Ian S (of the Suppositories) and Jordy (of the Creeps and the
Zebras Ears) to set up some gear and mics,
Told every band to write a 2 minute song,
Gave every band a 2 hour time slot
and listened as the bands made their magic!!!
It's awesome because it sounds like an album. It's all recorded and mixxed
by the same sets of ears.
It is limited to 330 copies.
The jackets are extra cheapo but super lovable...glued photocopies on the front and back.
and there's also a 16 page zine insert made by the bands!!!

They've reworked their formation, and now, have added even MORE magic.
Ladies and gentlemen, behold, Ilona, super-punk supreme!!!
She's joined the band on guitar...and introduced a whole new meaning to takin' it to the next level.
The extra guitar lends so well to their sound, fills 'em out, and picks 'em up!

Got 2 new releases done and done
the first is the WHITE WIRES LP
Finally, I got my squeegee going hi-speed!
This trashy little ditty bird is flying high on glue, whistling a sweet little tune, and crashing clumsilly into clean windows. Totally inspired by bands like the ROMANCE NOVELS, the NERVES, NOBUNNY, the BARRACUDAS, the OKMONIKS, the BOYFRIENDS, the BLACK LIPS, KK&BBQ, EDDIE COCHRAN, the REVILLOS, the BUREAUCRATS, the GOGOs, the NAMEDROPS, and the NOMORES.

Straight ahead punk rock stuff, with an organ. Stays in the shadows of the minor keys. Kinda dark sounding, along the lines of the VICIOUS, the OBSERVERS, LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH, KBD stuff. It's a 5 song EP, and there's a few of the 300 copies left. Also getting pressed in the fall on PTRASH.

Fun and dumb songs. I was told it sounds like EDDIE COCHRAN meets the BEACH BOYS. Up to garagey punk rock beat and powerpop stuff like the BARRACUDAS, CRAWDADDY'S, PAUL COLLINS...impressed by the ROMANCE NOVELS, the SNEAKY PINkS, the BARBARAS, the POPPETS, and more names to be dropped on request. This one's also gonna be 300 copies, and should be ready by the end of AUGUST.

It's backalley surgery. Trashy, frantic, and blown-out all done while hitting the right notes. It's a post-haste record. Should have been pressed a year ago, but then we all moved far away. Think VOM, the WEIRDOS, RANDOMS, etc. This one's probably gonna be 75 copies. Coming in the fall.

the TOILETTES - TOILETTE TALK 7"
Drum machine, and a 6 inch guitar amp from the garbage. Maybe inspired by the WAX MUSEUMS, the POPPETS, the SNEAKY PINKS, HUBBLE BUBBLE. Probably do lathe cuts...maybe 50 copies???unless there's any interest to make more.

I just moved to Ottawa this week, and what do I find? Halifax' Sam the Record Man closed down a couple of months ago. John from Birdman Sound in Ottawa is selling off the 7 inch collection. You can find a partial list here
