Cities / Morocco - Marrakech

Tickets from Madrid to Marrakech are something like $40 so I am heading there in late May. Also thinking about a day trip to Essouria, will probably skip Casablanca as I have heard its a little weak. Is 3 days too long to spend in Marrakech? How does Tangiers compare? Any advice is appreciated. Also, I am planning on flying in but I would be interested in taking a ferry from Gibraltar, just not finding a lot of info about that route on the interwebs.

anyone know of anything of termbo interest to do in QC?  show spots but also food, beer, record shops and other miscellany?  likely spending a few days there this summer.
