I watched The Third Man on Netflix and was suggested a newer ( 2013?) movie called Blue Ruin. It was really cool. Surprised I hadn't heard of it before. Apologies if someone already mentioned it.

Just finished the Savage Detectives by Roberto Bolano.   Pretty much had to finish the book before I knew if I liked it or not. That being said, if I didn't like it I probably wouldn't have read all  650 pages.    Misleading title, but otherwise a pretty neat book.

Now I'm hammering through The Maltese Falcon for a light, fun read.

Finally started The Fall by Albert Camus. Holy shit it's a great book. Flawless prose, and it's like he doesn't even have to work hard to write like that. It reads like it was written effortlessly, ad lib.

The Outsider is the only one people seem to read, but all of his work is great. Even his essays are great.

Moncton is aok- moderately quaint downtown, a cool flag store, tidal bores, etc etc.

Quaint is an understatement

To be fair, that photo was clearly taken from the Riverview side of the Peticodiac River.

Wife and I do a book club-ish thing every season.  This summer's read is Under the Volcano by Malcolm Lowry.  Read it a couple of years ago, but really enjoying the re-read.

Are those pictures taken from the Vietnam Zippos: American Engravings book? http://www.amazon.com/Vietnam-Zippos-American-Engravings-1965-1973/dp/0226078280

I saw this a few years ago—really cool. Been on my want list.

Found a copy at my local record store in the used book section.  Great coffee table book.  There are ton along the lines of " if you wanna fuck, smile when you give me back my lighter "   Can't remember the exact wording.

The Plague by Albert Camus. It's excellent. Also read The Stranger (in high school) ... which Camus book next?

His essays on Absurdism are pretty good too.  the myth of sisphus and other essays is pretty easy to find.
