can you retitle the thread "Sad Article about Used Kids"

i mean, its cool the torch got passed and all, and there's a fancy new community space, but how can you read about the end of an era and dissolution of aged scene, meanwhile reading about some tangential businessman hobbyist link buying out what ended up being the name only, and how flipping $2,000 shit on the internet is paying rent. i have no doubt its prolly one of the better reformulations of an old store in the new paradigm, doesn't mean there's no loss to mourn, or that the [insert token local go-to in-store venue] isn't totally interchangeable with any other "best independent record store" nationwide.

i only visited once, in the late 90s, but i'll never forget that squalid basement hovel, don't think i managed to buy anything, do remember gassing on some $12-ish Mystic comp and a group dare to convince someone to buy it. i mean, that is about as punk record store as it gets. crazy to imagine that dingy place doing 7-digits on CD sales, but certainly glad i wasn't made to be aware of it.

I don't know. Didn't you admit, in another thread, that you got your Yullow Teef because you suck so much dick?

The Mind Boggles.

who could have ever predicted a dick sucking joke actually bombing horribly on Termbo?

Id rather listen to a jazz/funk/new wave hybrid, to be honest. I'll never understand the anti-intellectualism of so much rock music. I can certainly appreciate the tone in which he writes but what a stupid, backwards message. It's reflected in all of the tracks I've listened to as well, which are very shitty, in my not so humble opinion. I guess this is a novelty for many of his listeners though.

talk about historical revisionism, longtime bradx bro all of a sudden cannot understand anti-intellectualism of punk "so much rock music." barf

when i lived in SoCal this was on the wall of Amoeba for $20 every other month. can't remember whether yellow or tan labels were first press, but i remember freaking out at the discovery that i'd just sold a perfect first press copy and was stuck with multiple second pressings. now i only have 1 copy, first pressing of course.

"twice what it ever sold at" is a pretty subjective number at this point. many celebrity sellers have cleaned their results from online references like cfrenzy and poosike, discogs sales history on most things is 2-3 years, often prices are pulled from thin air, could be very low.

likewise, people "overpay" for records all the time, setting new precedents, and encouraging price gougers to keep prices high. no doubt even ilenedover sells 2-3 records a month, if he's so wrong how does he sell anything?

bottom line, if the seller wants to sell something, they might take you up. i think a lot of sellers are wary of selling things too cheaply, but when it comes down to it, they'd rather just move the stuff along. others would be happy to be buried with their "raers".

Spacecase: "self-convicting" reputation my ass. Reputations aren't evidence. That's how innocent people get the chair. Innocent until proven guilty is one of the central tenets of our democracy, idiot #1.

Reputation -- N O T E V I D E N C E -- What is your malfunction, knuckleheads? The man is dead and can't defend himself. He's a convenient target BECAUSE of his reputation.

exactly.  if jackie fox says kim fowley raped her, of course its true, even though two witnesses she calls by name deny being there or aware it happened.  even though the victim herself threatened to sue, and claimed it never happened.  but he has a "self convicting" reputation, so he is guilty.

neither JJ or CC deny that the events happened, just that they were present. CC's rebuttal is also flawed since she plays dumb, yet was apparently already well aware of the alleged circumstances since her book was shelved over them.

i don't get the idea that anyone is even disputing that kim fowley was a serial rapist, it's all "that's showbiz for you" this and "those were different times" that. why people like israeliblue find it necessary to go public with such "heartfelt" skepticism for a noted scumbag is pure opportunism, contrarian showboating to perpetuate female oppression. wasting everyone's time and energy on some token bogeyman rather than simply acknowledging the underlying systemic problem, as if there's imaginary gobs of money to be made supporting an alleged rape victim.

newsflash: there is gobs of money to be made on any worthy newscycle story, why single this one out? are accusations so uncomfortable? for a dead scumbag even? cosby tried to brush em off, relying on so many cronies to debunk his victims, but they just kept piling up. shoulda spent more on that patented MJ hush money machine...

i think my last crazy score was a MAIDS for $12 maybe a year+ ago. not sure how i missed the bulk of collectroscums 90s prices motherload a couple years back, but at least i snagged JOY DIVISION sordide sentimentale, relieved to learn i already owned the other heavies. stoopid's recent inventory reuppance yielded some tasty treats without the anticipated cancellation. checking gmail, i almost forgot my only moeraer purchase in the last decade... ZAMP & SUSPECTS for $25 via GEMM, still the first & last copy i've seen for sale. i think EXIT for $20 was my best ever, outside of that long island shop haul...

almost forgot another recent missed connection... REIGN OF TERROR, wasn't it like $20?
