i cant really see people getting nostalgic for scratched/skipping tracks and digital loudness the way they are for crackly vinyl and oversaturated tape

maybe bands should just print extra sleeves, fill them with download codes, and sell them cheap to offset the cost of the vinyl. idk, i guess people who buy vinyl are probably actually playing it more than people who buy tapes. feel like most just want to have something to look at plus proof of ownership of some kind. why not jus a sleeve.

maybe i'll sell RFID tags and you can just touch your phone to it and the record will start playing. sell em in 7" sleeves so there's still something to look at, put a cool stamp on em. pick out the ones you want to listen to that day and carry them around on a keychain, it's like picking CDs for your car. i was joking at first but i kinda like the idea... i'll start working on it now.

additonally, i'd recommend getting a script-blocking plugin for whatever browser you use. it's a pain at first, when you have to whitelist all the sites you trust. it also occasionally renders some sites that run a million scripts unusable, but i guess that's for the best. ublock and umatrix are good to block unwanted scripts and elements, but there are a lot of different kinds of privacy addons https://www.privacytools.io/#addons

the worst CT stuff is all the bland new wave altered zones bait bands, which is most of their back catalog. looking through their youtube page, i spot diiv, wild nothing, beach fossils, craft spells, blouse, soft metals. rough stuff, mac demarco looks like a songwriting genius in comparison.

they hit a lot of Pixies notes on Exit Dreams IMO, especially on the slower/quieter parts. "Not Invited" is basically a Pixies song but with better guitars and a cool bridge.

NYC scene was so much more funkier in the 90s... Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, Soul Coughing... 2 Skinnee Js... Kandlekrush.. good vibes. now the only funky band is Kaleidoscope? Sad!
