God-bless Greg Ginn, a true patriot.

I'd recommend getting in touch with Ethan anyway.  He runs a store too, so he may have one in the stacks.  A while back I got one of the Les Rallizes Denudes LPs from him after he had taken it off the website, so it's worth a shot.

(a lot of bands tend to skip here, since it's not really "on the way" to much unless you're going from like Mobile to Austin)

What are you talking about?  This was true for years and years, up to Katrina even, but we've been getting way more bands since then, the biggest increase being after 2007/8 or whenever it was that Matt started doing shows. Evidence?  Take a look at some flyers here and here. They ain't all winners, in fact some real turds for sure. And those don't even include the shows he hasn't been involved in, e.g. at Spellcaster and Nowe Miasto, shows put on by Bryan Funck and Candice from Look Ma No Bra (Milk Music, Rational Animals, Face the Rail, Pigeon Religion) etc etc. Pretty fucking good for a city that's has a relatively small scene, is 'not really on the way to much', and is infected with a legendary apathy / laziness that often translates into low turnouts.

Getting audio but no video.  Anyone else having this problem?

El Jesus de Magico Funeral Home Sessions 7" EP: 66% superb.  I'm reminded here (first 7"?) of the Labiators: very much indie rock and yet transcending the form.  Only hints of the greatness to come on the LP.  Next record, please.

Don't think there will be another record - they broke up.

Out in the backyard stripping a bookshelf the other day, listening to some records on a little portable turntable I keep in the shed, when my neighbor comes outside. Forty-four years old, family man, all that good stuff, and he tells me about a box of records he's got in the house.  I ask him if he has any old New Orleans punk records and first thing he says is "I've got 12" of Sluts!" Well, fuck me. Brings the box over, the records are very clean, and we make a deal for the excellent Sluts LP and the mediocre N.O. Experience comp LP.

His wife's response when told about the sale: "You made him pay for that??"
