I think another valid complaint is the organization has never had a farm system that develops offensive talent. Why aren't the Giants like the Braves, Cardinals or (historically) the Dodgers, who all have a proven track record of identifying, acquiring and developing hitters on a consistent basis? Quick.. Who was the last solid home grown outfielder?
Candy Maldanado? Really?
And I'm not giving them credit for Posey or Panda. Posey was a superstar in college. He came to the majors almost fully formed. The Giants just needed to draft him with their high first round pick. Panda may very well likely be out of baseball in a few years. He is 4 or so years into playing at this level, but still hasn't decided if he wants to be a pro baseball player or competitive eater ala Joey Chestnut.
IF the Giants could develop hitters they would avoid the free agency trap.
