The gig at the KnockOut Club was the epitome of what City Rock is all about. It represents the dark side, the determined but sometimes destitue....IRREGULARS, in the shadows, in the heart of every big city with with a rock and roll soul in its belly. It is the clubs where everything imaginable might take place, the activities which would make any college jock squirm and avoid. There is no normal and everyday sexual orientation as defined defined by the politically correct, regardless of which leanings you might pursue. The Rocker doesn't find need to include the subject in conversation. The City Rocker lives and runs on day to day survival both for sleeping quarters, food, companionship, and hope. It is day to day existence with a deep yearning and determination in your guts to survive each damn day as you still dream way down deep inside. You dream dreams you dare not share lest you be called a fool or just another burnout. You've always got your back to the wall making sure no one is going to take you down. You do the right thing to others even when others are not doing the right thing to you. You will do some things others might find repulsive in order to make it through one night all the time knowing that particular situation is only temporary in your long range dream and perhaps no one will know about it but you. During the down times everything you eat drink, wear or sleep on is generic. You are like a chameleon on the streets....you change your appearance, both socially and physically according to each incoming situation. You are a survivor but you are always ready to be loved, to love, to be honest, unless someone in front of you is a pathalogical hustler, then you become a worthy combatant. Your inner passion and talent is for writing it all down into song and playing it back to the players. The gig at the Knockout Club was captured quite well with it's dark dark appearance. How many there would have wanted to be seen clearly on a video to be broadcast around the world, or have bright lights in their faces? When you are perhaps a bit high//// Yes Vinnie? It was a night of $2.00 Michelob versus a black and white can of beer which said simply "beer"..It was a place to feel safe amongst your peer group...from as far away as New York City. Everyone on that stage was a true City Rocker, by the above defined description of City Rocker. Some flew in by plane, drove in, hitchhiked, took a bus...some walked....it was a time to celebrate one more day of living....in...The Heart of the City." Carolyn, you captured the essence of the event. It was more than enough!
