Non-Music Shit / Re: New "Old" Receiver

I actually think Marantz stuff is pretty enjoyable, I just prefer a little bit more resolution. It's all about preference. If you can get marantz on the cheap I would grab it but I wouldn't pay any real money for it. They are super dependable (for vintage stuff) and the resale value is pretty high. Put my 2230 on craigslist at a 100 and sold it the same day I posted it. Lots of baby boomers still out there trying to buy all the shit they couldn't afford in their prime.

What city do you live in? There is usually always something on craigslist. At least then you could test it and it wouldn't get damaged in shipping.

I'd highly recommend getting one locally, stay away from ebay. I just got a harmon cardon 330c for 20 bucks today. Shit like that pops up at least once a month if you're diligent about checking craigslist, any great deals go ridiculously fast. I live in Iowa so other markets should be even better for this stuff. Just look for vintage Yamaha, Sansui, Marantz, Pioneer, Nad, Harmon Cardon, etc. etc. I've owned em all at one point, I prefer Yamaha for solid state. Tubes are the best though. Marantz sounds a little dull and overly warm. I'd pick it last in the pecking order.

If you can afford mcintosh by all means get some and have it restored, I can't afford that shit.

Not sure any band is more punk than the Urinals, they play a really good show though...

snatched a new in box PIONEER PL-530 off of Craigslist for 50 yesterday.

Haha, talked to the same dude. You talked him down quite a bit, he got real squirmy at my offer that was a bit higher than that. He called back with a yes but I had decided in between that I need nice speakers more than a turntable.

Human Eye, The Lamps and Tyvek (surprisingly) all killed it. The Clean was horrible unfortunately.

"Who's That Knocking at My Door?" scorsese's first film is a must see in my opinion. Super underrated flick if you ask me. Boxcar Bertha is also a essential.
