What's your take on Liba falafel truck? They've been parked in front of Pixar in Emeryville lately...
Is it good? Is the price right? Do I need to go there? That truck was at the Eat Real Festival in Jack London, which was a big bunch of bullshit, so I'll need a good recommendation before I schlep all the way to E-Ville for a falafel. There's a place with falafel in the Dimond now that I need to try, too.
I was kinda hoping that you've already tried that truck...
Anyhoo, what's your take on Brick Pig's House BBQ? Is it any good? I gots to know cuz I only got to eat BBQ ONCE while in Memphis and feeling depressed.
I tried the falafel in the Dimond this past weekend- Dimond Kitchen. It's inside a Little Caesar's. If that place was open during the falafel session, it would've been at or very near the top of my list and it's cheap. I highly doubt I'll ever go to E-ville for free range falafel when I can go down the street and get good falafel, check my PO Box, and get Crazy Bread on the same block.
I've thought about trying that Brick Pig place, but it seems kind of pricey. And I generally prefer to "eat locally" (which mean staying on the east of the lake), unless there's a really good reason to do otherwise. My next BBQ exploration will either be the new Everett Jones on E. 12th in the Fruitvale Area or Flint's on Bancroft in the ghetto.
carbs vs. protein?
the howard stern show?
the band "madball"?
.
Carbs vs. protein? The obvious answer is you need both, but I know you're trying to make a point or something, so I have to go with carbs. I love meat, but I can eat steak, beef, chicken, etc. ad nauseum and never get satisfied unless there is some sort of starch accompaniment. I might get full or even nauseous, but without bread, rice, noodles, or potatoes, I'll feel like I was missing something. However, I can eat a meal of noodles and marinara or rice with vegetable or a good loaf of sourdough and feel completely satiated without meat, or even butter or cheese.
I've never really gotten into Howard Stern for a few reasons- 1. He's kind of a one-note joke. 2. I haven't had a car radio for the better part of a decade, so I can't listen there. 3. I don't have satellite radio. 4. At home, I'd rather watch Streets of San Francisco than listen to Howard belittle people.
Madball was coming up around the same time I stopped following new HC bands. They sounded a lot like the crummy later-period Agnostic Front stuff, which I didn't like, either. Everything I've heard by them has been way too thrash metal and professional for me. I prefer my hardcore more rickety-sounding. I'm not a big metal guy, but the metal I like is usually played by fruity-looking guys with operatic singers, rather than grunting tough guys.
