The Taking of Pelham 123 (such a great movie, way better than i remember it being).
One of my all-time favorite films. You just can't go wrong with Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw in the same movie.

"Taking Off" (1971)- It was Milos Forman's first movie in the US. It was on Sundance a couple weeks ago. We DVR'd it and watched it twice. Hilarious!

It co-stars Audra Lindley (Mrs. Roper from Three's Company) and Paul Benedict (Mr. Bentley from The Jeffersons.) This movie is priceless just for the scenes with girls/teens/young women auditioning for some kind of talent competition- including Carly Simon and Kathy Bates (billed as Bobo Bates singing her own song.)

I love both of these things, but I think I would go with the pork. It's harder to screw up pork than brisket.

Have you seen this?

That is rad. If I ever get another tattoo, I will totally get a slab of spinning gyro meat tattooed on me.

I blew it and didn't make Greek fest on Sunday! Sorry Andy, you'll have to tell me how it was.
It was fun as always, but I mostly just go to eat the food and look at all the hot Greek girlies (who don't know they're only 10 years from having moustaches.) The food was awesome, of course. I think we got there a little too early, though, because they never put anything on 2 for 1 special like they did last year on Sunday night.

Between Kelly and myself, we ate: a gyro, pork souvlaki, loukamades (greek donut things), greek sausage in a pita, moussaka, patstissio, and this really good honey nut cake. Check this out, though! By the time I tried to order it, they were out of baklava and haloumi- the griddled cheese from Cyprus. Rip off!

What's the theme in NYC?  Some us of may be able to suggest where to go.

The next IEM session will be in New York...
I have an idea what I'm gonna do, but I haven't finalized it yet. It's gonna be a little different since it will be a "vacation edition." All I know is it will involve all 5 boroughs.

My whole family is from NYC and I was born there, but I'm only really familiar with Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn. Any suggestions for Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island are welcome.

Dudes is Greek Fest in Oakland still on for a Sunday visit??

We're going for sure. We're planning on getting there about 6:30. Not only is it free admission at that time, but they usually start putting the food on special towards the end. And all the Greeks in the dancing area are good and drunk by then. Wanna meet?

Fenton's is a given, I assume.  All the burger places (Nations, Red Onion, D's, Burger Depot, Nib's...even Casper's) have decent shakes.  The Berkeley Happy Donuts on Gilman and San Pablo has em (hot dogs too!).

Also...have you tried Sparks in Emeryville?  It's in that new, ridiculous Bay St. shopping center (Ikea, etc).  All hot dogs/sausage...pretty good.  Sorta technoy though...
Fenton's will be the first place I go that day. Their ice cream is so rich and they give you so much of it that it would be foolish to save it for the end of the day. I don't know D's or Burger Depot. Where are they?

I've gotta try Sparks. We call that new shopping center Faketown- because it's designed to look like a business district in a small town, but it's fake. Ever eaten at that pizzeria in there- Pizza My Heart? Worst name ever, but it's actually really good pizza. It's the closest thing to NY pizza around here.

Have you heard of this joint? They serve a KING BURGER which is 1/4-lb. burger topped with a hotdog, cheese and Thousand Island.
http://www.pearlsdiner.com/

Sounds like a job for the Inhuman Eating Machine! We need to get you a cape, Andy!! Let's get the burger quest crew together and check it out....

I am soo there! A hot dog burger is almost as ingenious as when I had hot dogs at my wedding and I used a pork chop for a bun.

The next IEM session will be in New York, but the following session is gonna be burgers. I'm gonna do 2 burger sessions- 1 East Bay and 1 in SF/Marin.  The first one will be in late June. Anyone is welcome to tag along and watch the carnage. If it's anything like the fish and chips episode this past Saturday, it should be frightening.

And Missy, free hot dogs are always delicious, just on principle.

Mitch, a friend of mine says I can't eat 8 milkshakes or banana splits in one day. He is crazy. I'm gonna feature one of those items after burgers. Do you have any East Bay places to recommend for either of these ice cream treats? I'm compiling a list.

Hey Andy, Put this on your calendar!

I totally want to go to this, but what time does it get finished? I don't even get out of work until 7pm and I work in Pleasanton. Both you and the hot dogs will probably be gone by the time I could make it there. Rip off!
