Non-Music Shit / Re: worst city?

Gary, IN made the list. Not surprised, that place sucks ass. I've played a few different shows there. Fights both times. More than half the city is boarded up, dirty as hell, crime galore. Most cities have bad sections/ neighborhoods not Gary, it's all bad.

I saw on Stille Post, Pink Noise are playing on the street I live on this Friday June 13th. @ 193 Dowling Ave, Back door. I've never been there, but I am glad there are shows there, since I can walk there in less than 5 minutes.

Music Shit / Re: Yearly album sales 62.5% of what they were in 2000

I forgot about this:
From the start, Sniderman and "Sam the Record Man" were synonymous with a move to "Buy Canadian" and support Canadian music artists.

Sniderman had a hand in establishing the "CanCon" regulations that mandated that Canadian artists be guaranteed at least a minimum amount of airplay on Canadian radio stations.

CanCon (Canadian Content) is a law that 36 or 37% ( I forget exactly how much) of everything on the radio/ TV has to be from Canadian artist. That is not so cool. My girl does a radio show and has a hard time with this. Especially playing all soul/ R&B music. Mainstream radio usually sucks in general, but it really sucks here. Unless your a RUSH fan.

Shopped there many a time over the years and remember when they still had a good vinyl section. It was a great store for what it was. Too bad it had to close and not another fucking lame HMV superstore.

Yeah from what I've been told it used to be a great record store. The times when I was in there, they had a few vinyl, but nothing I was interested in. Some over priced repress 200 gram over-packaged  Stooges and Black Sabbath albums and things like that.  It was mostly all CDs. But the store front I thought was really cool.
I did hear they plan to donate the giant records to some kind of museum. But it's much better to see them lit up while walking down the street.
I've never been into an HMV, but I see them everywhere. I thought they just sold movies/ DVDs, I didn't know they sold music too. Sure it's like shopping at Wal-mart for music.

This store went out of business, it was kind of a bummer to me. I've only been in Canada for a little over 2 years. I never shopped there, cause they really had nothing I was into. Little to no vinyl.  But never the less, I went a few times to buy VHS tapes and I like the store front. The giant lit up records look cool at night.  And it was apparently quite legendary around these parts.  This (I think) was the first one to open. It was in Toronto on Young St.

From wkp:
Sam the Record Man is a Canadian record store chain that, at one time, was Canada's largest music recording retailer, with 130 stores. The Internet age, the competition with the powerful HMV (HMV stores lowering prices in stores near Sam the Record Man locations) and other factors, forced the chain into bankruptcy on October 30, 2001. It now exists as a two-store chain, with stores in the Ontario cities of Sarnia and Belleville.

Yeah! The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

I've been checking my mail everyday in hopes that it has arrived. Maybe today will be the day. I think the boarder holds packages coming into Canada for an extra week, just to fuck with people.

Any shenanigans during your last couple days of vacation?

Sweet 16s, Eric and the Happy thoughts, and Midwest Beat played that show at Zooleggers. That was pretty wild and fun. Tame, nothing too crazy, but definitely a good time.
Spent that last few days with my family....."I'm not prejudice, but..."
Not really any Shenanigans to speak of.
I think I told ya, I left all the records I bought in Chicago at Jose's place. That was a bummer. Plus the Breakfast Club on VHS! He is supposed to be mailing them out tomorrow.  Other than that it was a nice vacation. Glad you could make to Lafayette to hang out.
