Listening to Gories - House Rockin' album. Lost a ton of records in a separation. This being one, just bought a Crypt gatefold reissue. Been some years since I've listened to any Gories.

Queen I is also on the turntable. Another purchase today.

Non-Music Shit / Re: ROKU

My girlfriend has Roku and never uses it. Is it portable? I guess it's a small box right? Like could we sign up for channels and she could plug it into her tv and then bring it to my place?

Will miss it if it goes

I will too. I've been on here for over a decade. I don't post as often as a lot of people on here, but I certainly enjoy reading it. I've seen a lot of people come and go, highs and lows in activity—it's always been worth at least a daily glance. The zine part is obviously the best part of this system, which I don't see going away. This message board however has been vital in introducing me to a lot of different music, allowing me to sell and promote my own music, set up shows, know about shows, buy and sell records, and I've made several real life friends. If it does end, it definitely had an huge impact on underground music. If it sticks around a little longer, I'm sure it will continue to do the same.

Music Shit / Re: functional blackouts

The other day I pulled out the 2003 S/T debut lp. This is the second time within six months I've listened to it. That's a lot considering how many records I have, how old it is, and how often I listened to it back in the era of its release. I still think this album is one of the best of its time. It hasn't lost any of its punch over the decade and a half of its existence. "Looking Good On the Way Down" is probably my favourite track on the album. But, I don't think there's a dud on there.

The first recent time I listened to it—late summer, my roommate at the time was really into it. Having not heard of them before he had a lot of questions. We listened to it twice in one day. I thought it was cool that it maintained appeal to a new audience and wasn't simply a nostalgia thing for me.

I was just checking Discogs to see what this album goes for. Not much at all. If anybody missed out on it or sold their own copy long ago, I'd recommend making this be a part of your permanent collection.

Oh yeah, and some great packaging on this record too.

would you want to/be able to re-up either of these?

I second this request.

I remember attending this day show. That was my first time seeing either band. Great show. I have a DVD of that year's Blackout, but the day shows didn't make it onto the collection.

This was a bit surreal. I went to see the new movie the day she died. Unplanned, I had tickets a few days prior. The ending was pretty sad considering.

Music Shit / Re: Danny Barnes "Losing It" ?

Danny Barnes was in the Bad Livers, who were sometimes heavy and rock. Was it this?

Hey Jason,

This is definitely it, thanks! Although the version I heard sounded more clean, less effects and a bit slower. Sounded like it was from the early 70s. I liked that version better. This puts me on the right track.

Music Shit / Danny Barnes "Losing It" ?
« on: December 17, 2016, 04:25:39 PM »
I was in a hippie store getting stuff for my girlfriend and this song was piped through the speakers. I asked the clerk what was playing and was told that it's "Danny Barnes" and the song is "Losing It".  It was heavy, like a  Pentagram or Groundhogs type of song. I can't seem to locate this on the internet. Is anybody familiar?

The deadhead clerk seemed confused as to why I was asking about the song—or maybe he was really high, not sure. But, I feel there is a chance he may have given me some bad information.
