Reatards - Get Real Stupid 7" — If I remember correctly, I think the percussion was done on buckets or something of that nature.

I have lost so many records in my most recent move. It's sad.

Cool—looking forward to it. I'm good friends with Ben (and Tara). You guys got a place to crash if ya need.

I rarely walk out of any thrift store empty handed. I'm pretty much a hoarder and collect everything.

This is really cool! Being from Lafayette, I have always had a particular fondness for DJ&I. This seems pretty comprehensive and long overdue.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Pokemon App
« on: July 18, 2016, 04:13:58 PM »
Basically anyone walking around playing Pokemon would already be walking around looking at their phone anyway.  The human landscape of this city looks no different than it did a month ago.

I can pretty much guarantee you it looks a lot different if you're around some "hot spot" or whatever they call the Pokemon-heavy areas.

This is probably true. As I stated in my initial post, I live across the street from a gas station and I see droves of people (frequently up to ten or more) walking like zombies in a group staring at their phones.

Non-Music Shit / Pokemon App
« on: July 14, 2016, 08:15:26 AM »
How many people here are using this?

I live across the street from a gas station, where apparently you can catch an item for this app. I frequently sit on my porch and watch the craziness at the gas station. This past week, I have seen so many near fatalities because of someone walking down the street with their face in their phone not paying attention to where they are walking. This is a constant thing. I can sit out there for five minutes and I am guaranteed to see somebody coming to the area specifically for the Pokemon item they are trying to catch.

Cell phones have been a distraction for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, friend hang outs etc for a a long time now, but this is unlike anything I have seen in recent years.

Last night I walked to the park near me. Usually deserted at the time of night I was there. There were at least 30 people out last night, all with their phones out looking for these items. It was very surreal.

I am not down on people playing this game. Some friends of mine have it. However, like anything else...such as texting, you need to use some common sense.

It could be where I am living, but this Pokemon app seems to have set off like a wild fire. I see people everywhere playing it. It is obvious, the way they are holding their phones (I think you have to point at the item and do some button pushing) and not paying attention to their surroundings. I cannot think of another phenomenon that I have witnessed to compare this to.

The best book I've read on the war was AJ Langguth's Our Vietnam.

Thanks for that mini book review, definitely something I'd like to check out.

My girlfriend is lying next to me looking at Facebook on her phone. As I was reading through this thread she told me about a post which is a veterinarian clinic that is having a fund-raising dinner, where the main course is a chicken dish.
