Suspect sought in stabbing
Herald Times Reporter
MANITOWOC - City police Thursday are seeking the identity and whereabouts of a third suspect involved in a late Wednesday night stabbing incident at Studio 8 Tavern.
Lt. Nick Reimer said officers from the police and Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department responded to the tavern, 939 S. Eighth St., just after midnight for a report of a stabbing that occurred inside the business.
Reimer said when officers arrived they located five victims from an altercation. Two patrons and three employees were injured, Reimer said in a news release. They were later treated and released from the hospital after non-life threatening injuries.
One of the patrons was stabbed in the arm and the other was hit in the head with a glass bottle, Reimer reported. The employees were injured while attempting to gain control of the situation, with one stabbed with a knife to the abdominal area and the others suffering lacerations to the head and arm.
Reimer reported three suspects fled the scene. Two were apprehended and detained by patrons not involved in the altercation. Police arrived and took the suspects into custody.
A third suspect is at-large, with identity unknown and police do not have a good description of the individual. Those with information regarding the incident can call the shift commander at the police department, 686-6551.
Reimer stated one suspect, a 23-year-old from Manitowoc, was treated and released from the hospital for lacerations to his hand caused during the altercation. A second suspect, a 24-year-old from Manitowoc, was not injured in the altercation.
Reimer said both suspects are facing felony charges of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, recklessly endangering safety, substantial battery, and bail jumping. Both were taken to the county jail and will be making court appearances later today.
It is unknown what provoked the fight, Reimer stated. Despite efforts from police officers and the Manitowoc County Canine Unit, the weapon involved has not been located.
