Music Shit / Re: The first time you ever heard Minor Threat

I got Out Of Step in 1985 or so when I was 19 years old, and thought it was pretty great.  I played it for a metalhead friend around the same time, and he said it sounded just like any other hardcore band.  What a moron.

I always do Stones, Animals, Them, etc. 'cause that's what my voice is best suited to, and 'cause I LIKE IT!

I'm not usually into Teengenerate's covers, but I like the way they flattened the Alarm Clocks.

I like what they did with "Midnight To Six Man" too.

Is it OK to say I really dig the other (jangle pop) side, too?

I love me some "Almanac", but I can't get down with the "Sugar and Spice"!

I got two copies of "Rumors" on the same day in a small-town Goodwill, both in pretty good shape.  I don't think it's THAT common though, 'cause those are the only two I've ever seen in at least a decade of digging through cheap 45s.  Obviously it's not that rare, either - I'm just sayin' that it doesn't pop up every day.

I love the fight scene in Alpha Dog where the Jewish guy jumps out of the glass table and kicks everybody's ass!

Dude at work told me a joke:

Q: Who's the world's biggest whore, and why?

A: Ms. Pac Man, 'cause she gobbles for quarters all day long!

Five By Five and Uniques 45s are pretty easy to come by, at least in this area (D/FW) - Jon and Robin and the Five Americans too.

Terry Knight & the Pack "I Who Have Nothing" with the killer "Numbers" on the flip side seems to be somewhat common.

I gave around $10 worth of used CDs for my copy of "It's Cold Outside" on Roulette a couple of years ago, so I guess that's about the going rate.

I know all the Nuggets have already been named, but I think the Nightcrawlers "Little Black Egg"/"You're Running Wild" deserves special mention because both sides are fucking incredible!

Gants 45s are pretty cheap/good, too...

These things are so fucking stupid, though I actually halfway agree with their choices for my home state of Texas except for White Denim.  WTF?!?!?!

I remember that they won the Stickboy songwriting contest - that's the only record of theirs that I've ever heard, but I really like it.

I've found tons of great stuff for peanuts at HPB over the years - a few examples:

Black Flag Licorice Pizza 7" - 25 cents
Saints - I'm Stranded LP - $4
NY Dolls - Too Much, Too Soon LP - $3
Heartbreakers - L.A.M.F. LP - $4

All in excellent shape...
