I'll second Shaun on The Nymphets recommendation. They're definitely the most exciting new band I've seen in the past two years. I also really like Cococoma. The 7" on Shit Sandwhich was my favorite of last year.

From Toronto I highly recommend seeking out Anagram. They've put out one CD and a split-12" with The Creeping Nobodies. Their songs generally revolve around a simple riff on either keyboard, bass, or guitar while the rest of the instruments swirl and build-up around it.

CHEATER SLICKS - skid marks LP (this has a lot of songs from "on your knees" LP...is that LP hard to get as an original? expensive?)

I just lost hold of it on ebay...raked in about 65$...would sure love to own it!  Guess I'll just have to settle for the new lp on Dead Canary...can't waits to gets it!!

I may have bidding on the same copy of On Your Knees. It ended up going for $67. A week later a copy showed up as buy-it-now for $60 so I snatched it up. According to Tom Shannon there are less than 100 copies in circulation. Apparently the couple that ran the label it came out on broke up just as it was released. For some reason they also junked almost the entire run.

I worked at Buy & Sell Classified Magazine for two days. I showed up, they gave me a chair and a phone and that was it for training. What we would do is look up classifieds in other newspapers, call up people that placed ads, and try to get them to place an ad with us. There was absolutely no system in place so I'd be calling people that already had ads with us, or people that had already been contacted multiple times. My second day there I went for lunch and never went back. I think I put in about eight hours work, with not a single sale to show for it. I tried a couple of other telemarketing jobs but I realized I can't hack them because I hate feeling like a giant asshole all day.

Montreal used to have pretty crazy pizza wars. I believe there used to be a place that served 49 cent slices. They were pretty bad, but 49 CENTS!

King Khan and BBQ - "Waddlin Around"

I can't believe it took 12 pages for someone to mention this song. I'll also throw out "Shake Real Low" as a perfect song.

The Real Kids cover of "Out of Time" has to be up there. Its definitely the best cover ever.
Jerry Lee Lewis "High School Confidential" and Rolling Stones "Let's Spend the Night Together" are also perfect.
