Music Shit / Vinyl Countdown - The Wind reissue
« on: March 18, 2008, 10:12:11 AM »
Vinyl Countdown has been living life in the slums lately.  However, we have pulled ourself up and are putting out some more stuff in the next few weeks.

The first will be a vinyl reissue of The Wind - "Where it's at with the wind."  There will be some extra (possibly unreleased) tracks tacked onto the end.  I'm hoping to do a nice gatefold reissue but it all depends on $$$.

Second up will be the Sgt. Arms full length.  I'm still working out the details with Bill Lloyd on this one though.  It will include the walking on the roof/caught in traffic tracks as well as an entire shelved album that's never been released.

I'm also hot on the trails of a possible Caspar full length.  I've found the original owner of Rock Steady records and he thinks he might have more tracks from around the time the 7" was recorded.  Caspar himself recently sent me a video of 6 songs with Michael Mcbridge playing on drums.  They're all very cool raspberries style pop (same feel as the 45).

Hopefully the wind will be out in June and the Sgt. Arms around August.  That's all assuming everything goes smoothly though (which of course it never does).

So there you have it.

Thought so.  I figured if the hardcore junkshop collectors hadn't even turned up anything good then there probably wasn't anything good!

Just spoke to rave up and they can do 6 copies + shipping for $75.  After shipping costs for 5 of them in the US that will be around $95.  So about $16 per person if we can get 6 of us.
Who is in?!

I would go in on the group order.

That's 3 of us --  Collin, you in?

I'd be happy to orchestrate the whole thing and ship out to everyone since I do that for my label every week anyway.  Anyone who wants in should email me at zedstardust-AT-hotmail.com

That should at least drop the price a little bit.

I found if for cheap the other day. I dunno if its gonna suck or what but for 20 bucks it seems ok to take a gamble

Well let us know!  I'm curious...

Damn, I would be really into seeing that video, if you ever get it!

Also might be able to track down some more caspar recordings around the time he did that single.  Supposedly backed by 10cc's drummer again.  Working on it!

I'm looking for the same answers..  I'm not gonna pay 30 bucks for this LP.

Worst case - maybe we can get a group order going to cut down on shipping and then distribute once it shows up in the us.  Might save us a few bucks.  But yea - no way I'm paying $30 for 6 songs I already own.

Just saw it.
What a great movie. I took Keegans advice and didn't watch any previews.

More like Steve Dweeby.

Sammy!?!? C'mon man. Yr the biggest video game guy I know. How can you not love him? Wiebe RULES! Billy Mitchell was pretty great himself. I had no idea Mr. Awesome was gonna be in the movie... AWESOME! I thought Brian Kuh was an outstanding character as well.

"There may be a Donkey Kong kill screen coming up shortly if anyone is interested"

How does Helene's Ladybug score compare to these guys?

Helene can get between 8 and 9 on the Twin Galaxies official score list for LadyBug, she's working on breaking 250,000 which is a pretty significant milestone as far as LadyBug goes, apparently.  It's been done once by a guy recently who is setting lots of high scores.  He was wearing a Bad Religion Recipe For Hate shirt in the picture I saw of him.  Time to get chumpatized!  I heart Billy Mitchell for his hotsauces!

Brian Kuh is awesome.

I schooled helene on LadyBug last time I was in tucson.  She's in denial though!  Too much dickel on the brain.

Did anybody buy this yet?  Anywhere in the states carrying copies?  I don't wanna pay the massive shipping fees if I don't have to.

HOLY SHIT!
just got this huddersfield transit authority 45 ( one dollar! ) in the mail.
seriously the best B side ever. Jumps out of the fucking speaker at you LOUD.
.... The end of the song is so abrupt. Suprise suprise! BAYOU FARM!!!!!

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=huddersfield+transit+authority&category0=

some more copies of this 45 here. Its worth it!

Yeah, that's perennial dollar-fodder.  Glad the good gods of dis he'a bo-ad tipped me off to it awhile back.  The a-side's good too!!!

And I'm gay too cos I liked Velvet Goldmine.  It's embarrassing now, but I bought a fucking green crushed velvet coat that I used to wear everywhere after seeing Christian Bale's outfit in the movie.  THA SHAME!!!!

Agreed.  I liked it.  Guess I'm gay.  Got me waaay into glam though so I still respect it.

I still dress like an idiot.

No, and Robin hasn't either.  I think Phil King from RPM may be the only guy who has.  Probably scarcer than either of the Shakane LPs, the first one which is fucking great and I'd give my eye-teeth for.

That doesn't surprise me though that there could be some OK A Raincoat stuff.  Supposedly Bunk Dogger has good stuff too, but aside from the track on 'Bubblepop' I haven't come across any.

Surprises me.  I've heard quite a bit of A Raincoat and it's all been garbage so far.  I did bid on this particular record a few years back but couldn't justify paying $60+ for an album that more than likely I wouldn't have liked.
Still - I'd be curious to hear it.

I have some video footage of them that's mildly entertaining though.

Oh -- and collin, i may have tracked down some caspar giles mccloud VIDEO of him playing with Michael McBridge of raspberries fame.  Trying to get my little paws on it still...

Yeah, I was planning on using Prarie Cat and I will discuss with them; just wanted to get some "pre-knowledge" and I know no-one's discouraging that.

is this for welfare mothers?

Oh how I miss my little Alan.  Send him back to albuquerque you bastards.  The foxx demands him back.

Someone misses Alan?  Just kidding; Alan rules!  I imagine he'll probably be moving somewhere else soon anyway, so at least feel secure that I'll be feeling the same way as you soon enough.

You guys planning on playing SXSW?
