The premise of Eastern Promises sounded so badass that I had high hopes.  Cronenberg should have been able to pull it off.  I mean, he really hasn't done anything great since Naked Lunch but I was expecting big things this time out.  And Vincent Cassel is a good actor but was so annyoying.  I was waiting for his dad to beat the fuck out of him but.  It wasn't even violent except for that shower scene which added absolutely nothing to the story.  Just a big letdown overall.  Fuck Vigo Mortinson too.  That guy was like D-list till Lord of the Rings.  And for a reason, too.

speaking of good gangster movies, just saw Ten Benny (1995).  Adrien Brody is excellent in the lead and it doesn't have any of the tired gangster cliches and tough guy dialogue that plagues most in this genre.  And Frank Vincent plays his father.

Stone is trying to make a movie about Bush.  Guess it's in pre-production.  Brolin to play Bush.  Might destroy his career.  Or make it.  Stone says his goal is to use seminal events in Bush's life to explain how he came to power. 

It'll be called, 'Bush.'  You know him and his clever titles.

Miami Blues (Charles Willeford wrote the screenplay based on his book) pretty damn good

Runaway Train (Edward Bunker wrote this screenplay.  One of my favorites.  Usually don't like Jon Voight but he's great in this.  Eric Robets too.  Fantastic.)

Kika and All About My Mother (starting to really get into Pedro Almod?var.  Don't know what took me so long.  terrific, terrific stuff!

Wall Street (Oliver Stone's best.  Great writing, great story.  Charlie Sheen was actually a good actor at one time.)

The durability of the CD/CD-R is a nil factor when they sound like complete shit. Especially older music that's been remastered.

You're saying some reissues sound worse than the original LP? Like, say,  the new Joy Division remasters?  Because those do sound a lot different than the LP.  Same with those Japanese Bowie imports.  So slick...so perfect.

6 pages in and nobody's mentioned the Castlevania series???  Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse is probably my favorite video game but the entire series, even the one for Playstaion, was awesome.  The Ninja Gaiden games were killer too.  And Kid Icarus!
