iranian and arab/middle eastern music has a lot of similarities, especially in the south where iranian bandari music and iraqi dabke/choubi is almost exactly the same at times, with the exception of the singing, which is in farsi instead of arabic. it is right next door, a lot of the culture is heavily shared.
i started a blog to post some of the classics of modern middle eastern music and try to introduce people to some good shit, which people have told me can be pretty hard as an outsider. slowly i will be adding more updates and after i cover a good amount of basics i will start including more regional stuff, especially iraqi. ive never done this before so lemme know if shit doesnt work. also if anybody knows how to put a picture in the heading thing i been tryin to do that.
