Here's a good NYC "Powerpunk" 4-song 12" EP, Punk-n-Roll/Powerpop gear. Not usually very expensive, but every copy I've come across is in beat to thrashed condition. This one's sealed with a sticker:

not as cheap as most of you cheapwads, but this seems like a good price for one of the best Bay Area punk 45s EVAR

...And you can dance to it!

Far as OZ grill-shit, Chain is abysmal bluez bellowing that's shitty and completely un-un-hinged (hinged?).  Supernaut are good, but there's better pube-stache glam out there.  Stevie Wright is just good pre-AC/DC hard rock.  The rest I'd take with a grain of salt and Skyhooks.

The first DADDY COOL album has one rad MC5 styled track, at least good enough for me to keep the thing. Too bad the rest is nostalgic 50s novelty boogie rock a la the DR FEELGOOD I cannot stand. I'll keep my eyes peeled for "She's a Wind Up," I am anxious to be impressed by them.

What about COLOURED BALLS...I never came across any of their records, but SLADE fans seem to go for it.

I do have a problem with that collector board's assertion that it was a bootleg. Uh, where are the rest of the copies of this "bootleg". Did the guy
who made them just make the one copy and throw away the rest? Shouldn't they be floating around, like all those Vee Jay Beatles boots?

Be skeptical all you want...when it comes to dropping 2 Gs on the ultimate ebay shyster's auctions, the burden of proof is on him. For a $20 record I can see ignoring questions, but flippant responses on records worth 10 to 100 times that, gimme a break! Of course with The 13th Floor Elevators, I'll defer to the Mafiosos years of experience and research: http://members.tripod.com/lysergia_2/LamaWorkshop/YGMM_Discography.htm

Unfortunately Patrick's "Reference File" is down, but in his "FAQ" he describes 90s MONO bootlegs of the 1st 2 albums.

So far I have wasted 24 dollars on terrible records thanks to this article. I'm going to kill Johan Kugelberg.

Ha ha ha, this thread had me curious to see the Koog's article, but at the mere mention of DR FEELGOOD I knew there was bound to be some backlash. It's always tempting to use his lists as a buyers guide, but I can't count the number of times I've been mesmerized by some all-too-tasty description on his Top 100 DIY list only to shell out the bucks and be disappointed.  Thing is, if he didn't overhype every cruddy band to the max, I might actually like more of them in the first place. The actual music on a record doesn't seem to be much of a consideration. I recommend a hefty dose of salt, or even better a listening station. Otherwise save your money!

That said, I did manage to dig out the LA RUE "Clowns" 45 tonight, and it's as good as I remember. Not punk, but rad nonetheless. KILBURN & HIGH ROADS my ass, but there are some great obscure 70s hard rock / proto / glam / glitter 45s. The Koog is at the bottom of the list of people I'd care to share mine with.

On that note, here's a video a bandmember made for one of my fave Detroit 45 finds (be warned their 2nd more common single is AWFUL):

i bid a lot of money on that mono easter everywhere.  wanted it pretty bad.  looked like a beautiful copy

I hope you're kidding! A couple Psych Mafiosos offer their thoughts on the authenticity of said "Easter Everywhere" and bobdjukic's penchant for overgrading and selling bootlegs here:

LA RUE...close enough to my heart to bring me out of lurker mode. there are 2 LA RUE records with very similar generic 2-sided photo sleeves. The 4 song EP is the weak one. The 2 song single is the one to get, with "Clowns." No monster...but definitely good for 1976.

Of course, CRIME was around circa '76. It would be pretty easy to overlook a band like LA RUE...especially with one of the most off-putting picture sleeves of the punk era.

i tracked him down by sending a letter to the address on the back of his records, which he put out himself, and he called me about 6 months later.

were you asking him to play at your party, wedding, or concert?

whatever the case, after 6 months, he must've missed the boat.

Also, when you say "every other milwaukee punk/powerpop record", which ones you talkin' about?

that would be...ACETONES, AMA-DOTS, BUCK BYRON, DIE KREUZEN, OIL TASTERS, ORBITS, PLASTICLAND 1st, SIDEWALKS, SQUARES, some Milwaukee radio station comp LP with SHIVVERS "when i was younger". plus a couple other gems like FEEDERZ "ever feel like killing your boss." i paid around $240.

i woulda traded all of that for a freakin PROSECUTORS. and unfortunately no MUSCLE BEACH, POP, RPMs or TYRANTS. still need 'em all plus a sleeve for my BOMBS 45. for such a prolific punk/powerpop city, all of those records are such a bitch to find.

today i scored another midwest powerpop classic - VERTEBRATS "jackies gone" for $40 (maybe too wimpy for y'all?) and a LEMONHEADS "laughing all the way to the cleaners" for $20. don't worry tho, i'm not in Milwaukee anymore...

I've looked all over for that single and haven't had any luck!  Last time I was at Farwell they had an LP of Milwaukee bands from '79 that had a few Shivvers tracks, and that's the only time I have ever found anything of theirs on vinyl.  You'd probably have more luck on Ebay, and it rarely even pops up on there.

ha ha, i scored one for $20 on Farwell last summer, it even came with the pink spray painted sleeve. that was a good day...also got THE LAW "king size cigarette" and pretty much every other non-$200 Milwaukee punk/powerpop record. such a good day i had to pass up a sleeveless HASKELLS for $75.
