Zoned out last night listening to:
Velvet Underground - Sweet Sister Ray
Low Life - Dogging
....and really enjoyed drinking whiskey and listening to the Green River reissues. I listened to these albums so much in high school on cd. So cool to finally own them on record. They really sound great too. I can't really judge these critically at this point, but can really hear some Hanoi Rocks/ Thin Lizzy in those riffs.
Today:
Merle Haggard - Mama Tried lp : breakfast music
Major Stars - Decibels of Gratitude : Still not sure how I feel about Major Stars. Kind of like a more action rock Flipped Out Records band? Songs kind of get samey, but the guitars are ripping. The female singer seems to really help me with this. I think it adds an interesting element, plus the music is loose enough to not feel like most action rock. Good music to play Star Wars with my kids?
Writhing Squares - Out in the Ether : can't wait to really dig into this. I've really only heard as background music while playing after it arrived today. Side 2 seems mellow?
