Reatard / Re: jay reatard dead
« on: January 15, 2010, 09:55:08 PM »
The first time Jay played solo in Toronto and we all pitched in to get him to play an impromptu set at Adrift Skatepark remains one of the best shows I've ever seen or been involved with.  It's been a rough few days thinking about all the great times we had over the years.

My thoughts are with the Novaks, Alix, Stephen and Billy, and all his friends and family.

Anybody in Toronto is welcome to join a bunch of us at Oddfellows where we are turning our weekly perogie night into a tribute of sorts.  Jay's bandmate and friend Seth Sutton will be DJing, drinks will be flowing.

RIP

First two singles and the LP are fantastic.  The following single and 12" EP were mediocre at best.  Will definitely give the new record a fair chance.

Their set in Toronto at Fucked Up Fest a few years ago was awesome.

I'm kind of amazed how they went from being over-hyped to underrated in the span of two years.  Such is punk in 2009.

I edged it last year for Chaos (and 6 months thereafter) but we'll see how I'm feeling. As long as Sparks is out of the picture, I should be okay.  Sparks Plus is so fucked up.  Bonus points to Marked Men for making sure I got the Fix My Brain LP despite being in the hospital.  A+ dudes.

Yeah, that was me.  I finished the rest of The Bayonettes tour with a concussion and totally zonked on painkillers.  I made my grand return to Chaos In Tejas last year, without incident or injury.  Stoked to be going back again.

I told the two surviving members of Shadowy Men On a Shadowy Planet about "Ode..." but neither of them cared.

I saw them when I was in highschool on like a Tuesday night in front of a handful of people.  Liked them ever since.  I think the 1st LP is CLASSIC and highly underrated.  The 2nd and 3rd LPs have their moments (Sikome Beach especially).  Saw them again years later to a packed Horseshoe tavern and it was pretty fun.  I'd probably go if they played Toronto again.  Actually, this thread is making me hope that happens.
