Neighbours (John Belushi last one, Dan Akkroyd at his punkest, half hollywood half wacky, pretty cool stuff)

"Do you know how long it takes to pork someone?"

You know your classics.

Saw that a lot as a kid, and as an eleven year old I always wondered what that meant. I think I've almost figured it out.

The Mist! Wow - one of the best horror films I've seen in a loooong time. Paranoia? Check. Rapid decent into madness? Check.  Marcia Gay Harden taking huge, gaping mouthfuls of scenery and spitting 'em out in some kind of reverse actor bukkake? (okay). Pseudo Lovecraftian tentacle spiderbaby motherfuckers? I'm in. Best fuck you to the Hollywood ending in god knows how long. Wanna check out the B&W version - I wonder if they treated the film differently?

Okay mini-spree over.

For some reason my hazy recollection placed this in some sort of post-apocalyptic context, but that was completely wrong. Just your basic travelling knights-on-motorcycles RenFaire circa 1981. Still great though. Ed Harris goes off.

is it just me or does bein post apocalyptic make everything better?

This is true. Evidence:

The Road Warrior
Planet Of the Apes
Escape From New York (does that count?
1990: The Bronx Warriors
Damnation Alley
The Day After
Uh...Thundarr The Barabarian?

i heard part 2 is terrible (not in a good way) but part3 definitely looks worth a rental at least.

Part 2=unwatchable. Haven't seen 3.

From Dusk Til Dawn 2 waren't half bad...

Except for Tom Waits.

Kevin, it takes a lot to make me cringe, wince, or shutter... that story succeeded in all three.

Steve, you're right about pop stars being marketed for their looks; however, that is a certain sect of pop star and it always has been.  Think Ricky Nelson for example.  Personally I want my rock'n'roll ugly.  I mean I have an easier time believing the ugly ones (8 times outta 10 at least).  Most of the greatest music ever produced has been produced by ugly people:

No no no. Those pix don't count - The Stones, Iggy, Dylan et al weren't ugly when they were making good music. Sure they look like shit now, they're in their sixties and have been doing all kinds of heavy shit since they were 16. When was the last time you heard a good Iggy record? If Tyner were still around with the MC5 they'd be making crappy records too. Perhaps ugly people make good rock and roll, but ugly old people sure don't.

Exploring The Axis from Thin White Rope, which I bought when it came out and probably haven't listened to since. "Disney Girl" has the raddest rolling bassline...
