Heya Kids-

BDR Records (a label specializing in releasing music from '70s-'80s St. Louis bands) is proud to present two new releases!

The Welders-4 song s/t 7?ep    (BDR#3)
The Welders formed in 1975 and dissolved in 1981; leaving behind only a few fanzine articles and faded memories of their live performances. They were St. Louis' first and only all female band during the Punk era. Where many Rn?R females tout the bad girl persona, The Welders chose to embrace their good girl tendencies to create a near perfect blend of The Monkees, New York Dolls and Saturday morning cartoons. A recording session in 1979 for a planned vinyl EP never saw the light of day when the individual backing the release went bankrupt. That session has been rescued and restored from a 30 year old, rotting cassette, and BDR is happy to bring you this master piece of St. Louis music some three decades later.
*The Welders EP is a pressing of 500 copies on opaque red vinyl, in a glue pocket sleeve, with a double sided 7" x 14" insert*

V/A-Test Patterns CD (BDR #1)
BDR brings you a reissue of the classic Test Patterns compilation album; originally released by Jet Lag Magazine's John the Mailman in 1981. Although obscure outside of the area due to a lack of national distribution upon its initial release, the compilation is known to early Punk/Indie record collectors and some clued in music historians. Test Patterns features two songs each by seven independent bands from the St. Louis area: The Felons, The Mopeds, The Strikers, Swift Kick, The Oozkicks, Trained Animal and The Zanti Misfits. The songs range from poppy Punk to Power Pop to hard-edged New Wave, with a couple bands even giving a nod to the 2 Tone revival of the day. Remastered from the original tapes and issued on compact disc for the first time ever! Liner notes by Steve Pick of Jet Lag Magazine and Jason Ross of BDR Records.

Music Shit / Oblivians-Rock n' Roll Holiday LP question...
« on: August 20, 2010, 07:10:58 AM »
I just picked up another copy of the Oblivians-RnR Holiday LP. The copy I had is on Negro and has a B&W sheet pasted on cover for art. The one I just got has the same pasted on sheet, but it's red & white....it's not the Sympathy repress. Is this a different pressing or were some red & white out of the originals?

Cities / Iowa - Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Iowa City?
« on: July 21, 2010, 01:34:38 PM »
Gonna be driving from Minneapolis back home to St. Louis in a few weeks...through Iowa. Never made that drive before....any record stores, ridiculous tourist attractions, outdoor weirdo/outsider art stops, etc to do/see in Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Iowa City...or even Southern Minnesota not too far off I-35?

Hello fine music buyer-

BDR Records is pleased to announce the release of Recordings '79-'81, a collection of legendary St. Louis post punk band Raymilland. The release is available on limited CD and vinyl that also includes the full length CD. Recordings '79-'81 is the first release for BDR Records; a new label who's sole purpose is to issue archival releases of St. Louis area music from the new wave era.

Raymilland formed in the summer of 1978 in St. Louis and lasted until the fall of 1981. Although starting out playing standard punk covers by the Buzzcocks, Damned, and Ultravox, their original influences and ideas about music leaned more toward the no-wave bands of NY and the more experimental bands from the UK. Raymilland played live eight times; four in St. Louis and four in Chicago. A fifth Chicago date slotted to open for Joy Division never happened when the US tour was canceled due to the death of Ian Curtis. Raymilland released one single in 1980 on Praxis; an influential Chicago music/art magazine, had one song included on the first Sub-Pop compilation cassette, and another on a compilation cassette released by the legendary Dong Dong Tapes from the Netherlands. A self produced demo cassette to attract label interest and procure live gigs was so influential that Wax Trax Records sold bootleg copies in their Chicago retail store. Although the band was constantly recording; there were no further official releases. Almost 30 years later BDR Records persuades the band to release a collection of those recordings. The members reviewed their vast archive to assemble the definitive Raymilland collection, and the result is Recordings '79-'81.

Here's my current pile o' crap on Ebay....

http://shop.ebay.com/punkrock10674/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

Records (Okmoniks, Oblivians, Hellacopters, Jesus Lizard, etc), a few CDs (Murder Punk, Mirrors-Japanese KBD band, Warsaw Pakt, Gonn, etc), original T-shirts (AmRep Dope Guns, Van Halen, Life Sentence, Screeching Weasel, etc), and even some BETA videos from Bowie, The Jam, Hanoir Rocks and Girlschool!

I've never done a release with a cover song on it before, but one I'm about to send in has a cover. I'm not talking Louie Louie or anything too recognizable, but it's also not ultra, ultra obscure or anything. I know how to obtain the mechanical rights/license through the Harry Fox Agency, but I didn't pay much attention to the pressing plant's instructions about the master license. I'm ready to send in the master, and I don't have the master license from the label or songwriter. Is that master license easy (and not too amazingly costly) to obtain, or do you just chance it and say screw the forms? Any useful advice is appreciated.

Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / My lists o' crap for sale
« on: July 30, 2009, 09:25:51 AM »
OK, I finally got around to making lists of my "for sale" piles. Most of this is record show stock, but we quit selling at them a while back. Not too much in the way of KBD or other rarities, but lotso' '90s-'00s punk, HC, garage, etc. Mainly all Punk, HC, Indie stuff...but there's some RnR, and other things.

There are four PDF lists with several hundred titles total. 1. 7"s/10" 2. 12"/LP and then two most of you won't care about...  3. CDs 4. DVD-Rs of music and movies

First come, first served and this is posted elsewhere. Email to reserve, but I'll only hold stuff a couple days (unless I've dealt with you before, which will afford you more time if needed). Quantity discounts and some haggling available. Open to trade stuff, but trying to raise some funds for a couple upcoming projects. Will always trade DVD-Rs/CDR-s, and will consider all fair vinyl trades, too.

You can download a zip file of the lists here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=39d8bcdecab109c4d2db6fb9a8902bda

I will acknowledge all email inquiries as I get them, but it may take me a day or two to let you know exactly what's available.

Please don't PM here....email jasonrerun'at'hotmail.com for any questions or to reserve stuff.

Music Shit / Anyone heard this live Comes CD?
« on: July 08, 2009, 06:31:57 AM »

I'm guessing there aren't tons of Comes fans here, but has anyone heard this release?

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=DAKSS-924

Just curious about the sound quality. Don't really wanna chance $30 if it's total crap. The Mirrors(Japan) live CD that Captain Trip released is a decent listen, but it's from a fairly lo-fi audience tape. I have the Plastics-Hard Copy DVD/CD set and the CD is a live set, but the sound is that of a muddy, dictation recorder in pocket type audience tape.

Music Shit / Leather Soul 7"ep ....c'76 or '77?? Fill me in
« on: June 26, 2009, 12:47:59 PM »

Can anyone tell me anything about a 7"ep by a band called Leather Soul on All Star Records. Looks to be from the mid to late '70s. No pic sleeve...uh, four songs, I think. (It's at home...I'm at work, so I can't check) I had it given to me in a pile of records, but the only hits I find on it are for a Psych band from Iowa on Wald Records...and I'm assuming there's no relation. Just looking to see if it's pre or ex anybody of note....or any info, I suppose. I coulda sworn I saw it/them mentioned on Blog to Comm or somewhere like that...came up empty this time.

Here's a batch o' auctions. Kind of a mixed bag this time....a few 60's comps, some 80's-core, 90's Garage Punk, and some misc. Get an original LSOK 7" while you pick up the 1st Offspring LP!

Non-Music Shit / Online store set up...easiest way?
« on: April 15, 2009, 12:00:03 PM »

So, I've asked a few people who have similar looking web stores set up...and I get the same answer...I traded some records to this guy who runs it for me...or replace records with drugs, money, babies, porn, etc.

I'm just looking for the easiest way to set up a simple store front. I also need to be able to maintain it (add/deleted products and images, etc) rather easily. I don't want to edit a ton of code each time I want to upload a new item. I'm looking for something that's fairly idiot proof...like the editing tools on a free blog service or something.

Chrism posted a thing about his Painkiller label under New Release and that's a good example:
http://www.painkillerrecords.com/catalog/ I've downloaded the free osCommerce software, but haven't done anything with it yet. Any hints/help on the best way to get started would be greatly appreciated. You can PM me or email at jasonrerun 'at' hotmail.com

Non-Music Shit / Blank LP jackets for screening...but matte??
« on: April 09, 2009, 08:46:57 AM »

So, I'm working on a release of an LP, and the band thinks they'd rather have screened covers than traditionally printed ones. No biggie....but they would really like them to have a nice matte finish. All of the blank, no hole jackets I've found through supply houses have a semi-gloss finish. A couple places couldn't tell me for sure...but their descriptions sounded like it was semi-gloss. I know Imprint and other printers offer matte finish as an add-on, so I'm guessing it's only done as a last/finishing process. Cost is also an issue, but secondary....so I'm also looking for the best price on blank, white jackets. The cheapest I've found for blank jackets so far is through Something Special Enterprises in PA. $50 per box of 150 + shipping. So, that's roughly $0.34 each.

Here are my questions....
1. Is there such a thing as matte finish, blank jackets...or is this a spray on/varnish finish only done after printing?

2. What's the best price you've found on blank jackets? Looking for 500, possibly 1000. As far as I know, we'll need them folded and glued...not in their raw state. Unless someone tells me it's bad to screen on them after the folding/gluing. I know it'd be better to print in their unfolded state, but I can't see myself folding and gluing LP jackets by hand.

Thanks

Music Shit / Incubators-Face to Face 7" 1984 Chicago...anyone?
« on: February 06, 2009, 12:05:57 PM »

Does anyone know anything about a Chicago area 7" by The Incubators? It's from 1984 and the a-side is Face To Face. That's about all I know. A friend forwarded an email to me of someone looking for it. The only info I could find were two moronic sellers on GEMM listing it for $416 and $462...both one star rated Euros and with similar WTF prices on things...so that's obviously no help. I did find an MRR review from when it came out, but that didn't shed any light on it, either. Just wondering if it was pre-anybody or if there's anything special about it. I think my friend has a copy, but before I start trying to trade/buy it...just checking if it's worth the hassle.
60

So, I've seen lotso' folks refer to the Nodzzz demo CDR as being better than the 12". The 12" is one of the handful of 2008 recorded records that got me all hot n' bothered. I'd really just like to hear it, 'cuz I wasn't hip to 'em then...and I really like the 12" and the 45. I don't use Soulseek, but MP3s are fine if someone can send 'em to me or put 'em on Megaupload or something. Otherwise, a CDR would be great. Will also gladly buy or trade handsomely for someone's copy of the demo if they wanna get rid of it.

Have shitloads 'o tough to find stuff to trade besides records...mainly older stuff....audio and video. Audio of Vom-a couple live shows, Samoans live and studio outtakes, lotso' big name 70's punk stuff, shitloads of 80's HC demos and live, 90's (good) HC like Born Agains, lotso WFMU live sets from the 80's and early 90's, etc etc etc DVDs of Really Red, Dils, Angry Samoans (True Documentary, the complete early practice video, live clip with Jeff Dahl), Avengers (opening for the Pistols last show), Talking Heads-75 CBGBs set, Dead Boys-'77 in LA, Bags live late 70's, etc etc

Will trade that stuff for other live/demo audio/video crap, too.
