Anything going on feb 16-20? Gonna be in San Fran for 4 days

Hey TA! I'm off on Saturday or Sunday. I think you still have my number. Get in touch, we can do a daytime wander of SF/OAK if you are interested. I have an extra bicycle if you are so inclined.
Shit wish I would have seen this early on saturday.  It would have saved me the time I wasted in that stupid hippie park listening to some guy tell me how "San Francisco" everything was.  Still had a great time and thanks to everyone who bought me a drink, smoked me out, pointed me in the right direction of good eats, and hung out.  Especially Aya and Robert for the place to stay and keeping me and Denise entertained.  I'll be back in the city in August so see ya all then

It was nice seeing you!
Btw, we just drove by Dolores Park this afternoon and it looked like the Woodstock. Fuck.

Hello. It's been a few years since the last burger quest.
Can we go to the new Joe's and compare the burger with their old burger?
Thank you

FedEx > UPS

UPS tend to play soccer with their packages more than FedEx - definitely been way more breakages by UPS over the years.

Aya,

What is the best place online to watch Japanese news? I've been reading Asahi-shinbun online and things don't look good. Lots of people are freaking out that I know over there. There was recently a 6.0 earthquake in Shizuoka-ken as well.

Here. Live NHK streaming-

Until yesterday morning, they were streaming all the MINPO stations too, but now they're only streaming NHK.

This link is for NHK in English, but it's not live.

The steam vented is not harmful to humans.
The high radiation readings are from right by the reactors themselves.

And read this before you start shitting your pants.
http://bravenewclimate.com/2011/03/13/fukushima-simple-explanation/

A Chernobyl is impossible and a 3 mile island is unlikely.

It's a horrible and scary situation for sure but foreign media is of course creating a nuclear panic outside of Japan. Largely because the Japanese are not releasing any info to them.
They've released only one English press statement about the nuclear crisis over there.
People there are saying that it's because the Japanese are concerned with helping the victims of this horrible event, not feeding the hungry/desperate foreign media who of course in turn will spin it into some uncontrollable end of the world shit.

I wish I was as optimistic as you are.
I don't know if you understand Japanese, but if you do, and if you've been watching the Japanese news or reading the Japanese media, you would know that it's not just the foreign media creating panic.

I'm watching the tokyo electric company press conference live on nhk right now.
It looks like #3 or #4 is on fire. Huge smoke keeps coming out. The officials are almost yelling at the reporters saying, "we don't know what is going on! We want info as much as you do. I can't answer any questions"

My normally very calm sister in law is even freaking out. She's really worried about the kids...the radioactive dust particles are travelling fast. There is a northeast wind in Fukushima today, only making the matter worse. The Japanese government is frantically covering this shit up but I doubt that they'd be able to keep up with the denial for much longer. I saw the press conference with the Tokyo Electric's spokesmen and these men looked like they were about to commit suicide.

Heard from my friend, got a mail about 8 hours after he landed saying "finally got off the plane," not sure if he was on the plane that long or if emails are taking that long to go through, anyway - not dead.

I am very concerned with the nuclear situation, which sounds extremely dangerous, and does not seem to be getting any coverage on TV here.

I'm very glad to hear that your friend is OK.
I finally got a hold of my buddy who's from Sendai. Him and his family are OK too.

It's been a crazy few days for me. I was at a show Thursday night when friends came up to me and told me about the earthquake. I got on my phone and started calling my family and friends in Japan but the lines were totally jammed. My friend then offered me to take me home cuz I was starting to panic a bit. And shortly after we got in the car, we got hit by another car in the intersection. Man, the 84 Volvo is toast...I feel real bad for my friend and his brother who the car belongs to. My left chest is purple and the leg is bruised. I still can't lift my left arm, but I'm OK. I feel very lucky.

I just got an email this morning from my sister in law in Kanagawa and she said that there will be rolling blackouts 3 hrs a day in Kanto area until at least the end of April. She also said that all the store shelves are empty. People are scrambling to buy food and paper products. She said she barely got her hands on some diapers for the baby. She said the people are worried about the nuclear plant too. #1 reactor exploded yesterday, and now the #3 reactor is doing the same thing the #1 was doing. My friend also told me that there are still a bunch of folks left behind within the 10 kilometers radius from the plant, confined in a hospital.

My flight to Japan is on 4/4, but at this point, I'm really not sure if I'd get to even go home. My mom's flight out there is in the last week of March, so i guess I'd know by then.

I'm just praying for all the people over there.

I hope there will be some fun activities at this festival - like, SS & Mitch arm wrestling, magic show by Steve, circus act by Jared, etc.

Seriously stoked though!

Rafael was down for quite awhile.  I'd assume that's why?  Maybe the ref didn't want it to seem like he blatantly threw the game in United's direction?   Praise for Holloway and I'm glad they held on to Adam and will be around for another year.

Ah, I didn't see the bit with Rafael. I must've been in the kitchen. Still, I don't think I've ever seen the extra time being that long.

Do you think Adam will still have a good attitude for the rest of the contract?
