the ref kept ignoring the rough plays but didn't hesitate to dispense cards on much lighter fouls. Japan was robbed at least one penalty in the box, I think was involving Da Silva. Fuck. I wish I can get nugged...I'm on my way to work now.

Japan didn't let the rough plays beat them. Japan didn't let the bad officiating beat them.

But the PK killed them.
What a horrible way to go.

I haven't been this sad since my cats died.
I don't know how I'm gonna survive today.

Will move (most likely) sometime in the next 12 months... moving records ain't gonna be fun for sure, especially if we end up in a tiny place like it's bound to happen...

a lot of people who helped us move in the past are no longer our friends.

Wow, the Collina action figures are cool!

man, I'm gonna have to change the channel to the Ivory Coast vs N Korea match if Portugal and Brazil don't start playing soccer soon instead of stepping on each other's achilles tendons.
This could've been a great match and they're ruining it by playing a dirty match.

More storms tonight.  For once I was asleep by around midnight but this loud as shit thunder woke me up.  Flash flood warnings for the whole county.  My street is starting to look like it might flood a little.

Midwest apocalypse.

I hope you're not on the ground floor!

aw,  the East side Woodman's.

reminds me of a few blocks away.

I like the isle that's dedicated to different types of jerkey. Next time I'm bringing an extra suitcase and filling it with PM's. (processed meats)

...and a mallet to smash the video gamer in front of your seat on the plane.

WOW

Man, that match was definitely NOT handed to the Americans. Way to hang in there and keep pressing.
Sorry Algeria, this is what you get for trying to settle for a tie.

Oh goodness...US was stripped of another goal!
replay clearly shows it wasn't an offside.

OK, maybe an instant replay's not such a bad idea only if the call is directly associated to a goal or a red card. I dunno...grrr

And the kids of the old Hispanic families are now really into shooting each other in the spines these days, then driving away real fast. And Aya. Aya lives around there now. Neighborhood's really declined, you see.

hey, I bring class to the neighborhood.

anyhoo, yeah the dot-com shit fucked us up big time. We were living in a ginormous victorian on Fell and Octavia, paying peanuts. And then the property got sold and the owner-move-in thing happened and we got evicted. And because the city had something like, 0.2% vacancy rate or some bullshit like that at the time, we were forced to move into a place in the outer Sunset, paying double in rent. And then the house got sold again after a year or two and we got evicted again. And that's how we ended up in the Excelsior. Back in the early 90s, my practice space was right by Balboa park station and I used to think, "man, people living all the way out here must be really poor"...Ha.

Not to sound like a prick but I hope the South Africans are a bit sad now and either won't go to the matches anymore or lack the will to blow those fucking things nonstop.

So, you're married to and ex-soccer player, eh?  Pro or amateur?

I just hope the vuvuzelas don't become the norm in soccer matches...

My husband played soccer growing up in LA. And when I met him here in SF in the 90s, he was playing on a team in the San Francisco league. It's not pro but a very competitive league with a lot of teams in different divisions. His team was a mishmash of players from all over the world. They had Brazillians (who only passed to each other), Irish, Mexicans, Bosnians, English, Italians, Indonesian, German, Polish, etc...oh and Americans.

To reiterate, I don't want replay on scoring decisions or on something like that off sides call. I hate replay during game action. What I DO want is to review red cards, after the game is over, to see if a call that would result in suspension for another game is warranted. A strategic flop should not remove the key player from the chess board.

As far as game play goes, I understand off sides better now that I've actually thought about it a bit, so I challenge you pros to come up with some changes to the game that would create more scoring and more definitive results. No one actually likes those 0-0 scores, do they??? I mean, you accept them, like death and taxes but why add another deflating event to life?

yeah, I agree...it is a bit of a bitch to watch a 0-0 match. I don't know, maybe they can get those Univision Deportes ladies with minimum clothing to stand around the goals, so there'll be more action in the box?
