yeah well, I imagine its dubious whether the tracking info. would actually work. I predict, for better or worse, that no one will ever go to jail for illegally d/ling a Reatards tune so get your panties out of a wad.
I'd be more pissed about DRM stuff but then again I've never used I-tunes, just e-music which is cheaper, has more stuff I'm into, doesn't DRM-encrypt and d/ls are in reqular MP3 form...
I've become a regular reader of slashdot.com which a good place to learn about some of the basics behind these issues...I'm on the verge of making the plunge into Linux even...

I was listening to "Pass Out" for maybe the 2nd time last week and liked it better than first listen- no doubt its the Hawkwind aesthetic pumped through new-wave spazz with the sax. blurting the way forward. kinda comical but even "space invaders" wasn't cheezy. Are any of the other ones worthwhile??

And you gotta give credit to him cause in this age of popular radio and mtv rock being such phony apathetic whiney rock or super produced fake nhilistic bullshit fake metal, he stands apart as a dude with a super positive atitude tellin kids just party! and be stupid, fuck everyone and be yourself and have fun. And he seems genuinley legit about it.

I dunno, his band sounds very-produced and fake crunchy- nothing wrong with positive, all great rock is a dionysian trip anyhow, but I need a little more sly sarcasm and, I dunno, inventiveness. Not trying to pull the "punk rules dood" card but I'll take the Angry Samoans or the Devil Dogs, or for that matter, the Wildhearts or Manitoba's Wild Kingdom...I did happen to see AWK on some MTV show were he spent a weekend in a dorm of some southern black uni. and, sure, he seemed very cool but still...

Non-Music Shit / The funeral pyre for thought in America today
« on: May 28, 2007, 02:32:30 PM »
Or is it really? Is it just a "New Age"?
Quote
Tom Wayne has amassed thousands of books in a warehouse during the 10 years he has run his used book store, Prospero's Books.

His collection ranges from best sellers, such as Tom Clancy's "The Hunt for Red October" and Tom Wolfe's "Bonfire of the Vanities," to obscure titles, like a bound report from the Fourth Pan-American Conference held in Buenos Aires in 1910. But when he wanted to thin out the collection, he found he couldn't even give away books to libraries or thrift shops; they said they were full.

So on Sunday, Wayne began burning his books in protest of what he sees as society's diminishing support for the printed word.

"This is the funeral pyre for thought in America today," Wayne told spectators outside his bookstore as he lit the first batch of books.

According to the excellent Termibore interview Hazelmeyer was recording with some Melvins and Moog ST folks
Quote
Then last fall, out of the blue, I brushed off the guitar and started recording some stuff with the Melvins and Kenny from Mog Stunt Team, and hunkered down to write/mix/play a soundtrack with an artist friend in NYC

Killed by Amrep would have to include the very first one, theBludgeon flexi. Kind of a Venom/Warfare Neat records vibe...

Again, why I'd recco. DMT: you have no chance to run anywhere or consider what's going on- you're just thrust immediately into this other universe.
BTW Kevin, have you heard of Christian Ratsch?
If Terence Mckenna is too hippy-dippy for you then you might dig this guy although it seems like he doesn't have much in English.

Yes, somebody who's got 'em all (and a scanner) GET TO WORK!

Yeah, too bad the only guy who DOES have 'em all is a crazy right-wing loony toon.
Don't you mean libertarian? Yeah I know, a libertarian is just a right winger who does drugs but...
What happened to that blog that was scanning in parts of misc. zines?? I have some old Blatches that have some great artwork of the time- it was Jeff Blanchard's zine...

Hard to top any of the above but I am bored out of my skull-  workless almost three days straight which wouldn't be so bad but there's no cubicles in Japan and everyone can see that I'm just effin' around....
I worked at a farily upscale clothing store in L.A. called Agnes B. Fairly mundane but it was a constant procession of stars - everyone from Pia Zadora to Robert Deniro, Michael J. Fox, Terri Garr, Jon Malkovich, Molly Ringwald, Phoebe Cates, Beastie Boys, Steve Martin, etc. None of the big names were that stuck up or anything although we had to keep an eye on Farah Fawcett as she already had a rep. for shoplifting. Some Redd Kross connection among the staff with the (now ex-) wife of the drummer Roy Mcdonald and Robert Heckler's ex-g.f....Slash's (GNRs) half-brother, Ash (!) worked there for about a week...

Myself and several other people I know have had pretty disasterous, yet hillarious experiences with Atropine/Scopolamine stuff. People have almost died, beaten up cops, talked to walls for days, seen psychiatrists, get locked up and all sorts of other things that you can really only seem to get away with when yer a kid as a result of those plants. Of course these experiences are in no way pleasurable, in fact, you don't even realize that you're on drugs. You're just insane. Completely insane. For days.

Indeed. Mine happened in Mexico City and I was actually in a police car at some point. Most of it I don't remember. I'd bought the plants at a "witchcraft" market along with some other stuff but the datura was the only thing that had any affect. Apparently, it used to be an ingredient in asthma medicine-my friend told me they would dose peoples' cokes with it at his boarding school just to see them go piss on the Dean and stuff...

Yep indeed, especially the scopolamine stuff like datura, belladonna, etc.
Don't know about salvia but smoking DMT is probably the most absolute intense thing ever and perfectly safe. You peak within a few minutes and will not be going anywhere as you are literally taken to another dimension where there are, yes, "self transforming machine elves or self-dribbling basketballs". Back to earth within 10 minutes and on your way shortly thereafter.

and i'm sure not many will agree, but i think the effigies entire discography should be available on all formats!

Heh, I'd agree...they must have plans for some kind of reissue since they sicced their lawyers on an mp3blog sharing a handful of songs....Ironically, somebody claiming to the son of someone in the band d/led their whole discography from me on Soulseek.

I believe John Brannon was the one who said it as, "Hardcore is the blues of the suburbs." Maybe it was in the American HC movie but maybe not since they glossed fairly quickly over the midwest...
