I've got a mix I'll attempt to replicate digitally for ya
Sorry I missed that part, but I'd be glad to hear your mix!

SLANG EDIT: Thanks for the Playboy link, Neg Jazz always nails it

Is there a new Low Life or not? Do you refer to Dogging that came out last year I think? I love that record

I'm surprised you like all those bands but think Crazy Spirit are boring!

You should dig into the releases that Neck Chop and Abnormal Broadcasting have put out there. I think their releases pertain to what you're looking for.
I quite liked Crazy Spirit demo but after that I just thought it was boring. I'm definitely more into Hank Wood, even though it's nothing alike musically

Neck Chop haha I love the name! I have Warm Bodies 7'' and Bleeding Gums too. Good releases. Will check the other stuff. Sick Thoughts is cool I remember that kid Drew, he bought a Grabbies LP from me

I'm listening to all the bands mentionned, and I was on Perverts Again "Our Big Party", totally my shit. Insane. Turning to Institute  "Subordination"

Glue LP is awesome as well. What's the name of the Playboy LP you're talking about? Just self titled? what's the label? Cause when I google "Playboy punk" obviousy I can't find anything

What do you think of Liquids? I have this "blindin flash" 7inch and it sounds pretty good

Thank you all

You want to see a good punk band in 2017... go to almost any DIY punk gig in Anytown, U$A.  If you go to say, two... no, three random REAL punk gigs and don't like none of the bands you're either a poser or boring or old or bald or any combination of the former.
I live in France. And most punk bands are boring as fuck because they're simply boring and uninteresting, and also because they're yelling for nothing, I can hear their shit but I don't feel it. It sounds fake or forced or done a thousand times before. I've rarely seen a wild, crazy or slightly exciting live show lately. Only GUTTER this summer really drove me crazy and made me feel alive.
But I have to agree that there is a wave of excellent punk bands in the USA and it may be different there

to respond to nuggetsvolume1, I didn't pay that much attention to this board before but I was checking out the topic on the best bands in 2017 earlier. I'm familiar with 77-85 punk but I was just asking for new, recent bands or records. Just to keep updated about what's going on
I could do some researches and that's what I do, but asking about it here could be interesting to have personnal opinions from board members about the bands

The Cowboy LP on Fashionable Idiots is one of the best this year. It's people from Homostupids/Pleasure Leftists.
https://fashionableidiotsrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-cowboy-album

Also, since you namechecked Grabbies/OWAB you'll be happy to know Alessandro had a band for a few months a year or so ago in Italy; they managed to record a demo that was also pressed on a 7" before obviously imploding. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Xt_tw6xQGI
Damn, Fashionable Idiots still exists, best news i've read today!!
I used to buy almost everything from them for years
I heard about the Cowboys cause Blow Blood released the LP as a tape and it's really great!

Alessandro sent me that Caucasoid tape last year and it's good too. I don't remember what he said about it, something like "unfashionable mid tempo sloppy punk rock about nothing", I remember that I thought his description itself could have done an excellent review
They were planning to record an LP but it seems like it will never see the light of day. I did a skull made of mini swastikas and "CO  KE" for the eyes for the insert but whatever, still funny though

There are a lot of names I never heard of so I will check them asap
Someone mentionned a new record from Limp Wrist! ha! It's great, still the fucking same. That cover! But what about these two or three last songs haha love it, caught me off guard

FNU Clone Inc are the same guys as in FNU Ronnies?

The Impalers LP is savage I love it

Thanks for the links guys, I just have to listen to them all now!

About La Vida Es Un Mus the guy didn't want an issue of my zine Sex Before Suicide in his distro because it wasn't PC enough, like misogynist or something I don't remember the reason. Since then I think he's a cunt haha

Hey,

I was out of the 'punk scene' for like 4 or 5 years and I don't really know what happened, what's been out, good bands / records and whatnot
Sam Feel It hooked me up with some records few months ago, good stuff
I was a bit aware of the Aussie bands, like Gutter Gods, Dribble, Power, Zingers, Royal Headaches...
In Cleveland, Bad Noids are awesome. I liked Coneheads and Warm Bodies too
Hank Wood And The Hammerheads are great, Crazy Spirit is boring, Lumpy and the Dumpers do some good stuff and with the label too, weirdo attitude I like that

I'm into raw, snotty hardcore punk, or fucked up coked up one
I love Grabbies or Out With A Bang, Brainbombs, Dead Boys, and reckless behavior. I like characters in punk
I don't know, if you could just send me links of your favorite bands / records out lately that would be awesome!!

Thanks a lot!

i dig your mixes and was a fan of your zine

Great! Thanks a lot!
I'm working on the next Neons issue and it's really close to what I was doing with Sex Before Suicide. And more punk related.
I think I saw some posts where you were saying you liked SBS at the time

Was the GG Allin quote somewhere on the Urban Dictionnary link? I must have missed it.
I understand that you could think I'm a "tryhard" from your point of view, I can assure you it's not the case though ha ha. But whatever.

If it interests someone, I can send the fifth mixtape that was deleted from youtube by email : raphsbs@gmail.com

Bipolar, Schizophrenic, borderline, depressive, autistic, PTSD, OCD and other people suffering from mental illness... This one is for all the stolen minds stuck in Hell.

I made this compilation based on the emotions, phases and mental states I'm going through with my bipolar disorder. Well, I tried to. From depression to crippling anxiety, to violent unpredictable mood swings, explosive outbursts of rage, sadness, coldness, loneliness, self destruction, mania with a first class ticket to the cosmos, sometimes mixed with feelings of confusion, and the addiction to addiction...
Maybe you could relate as well. Or at least enjoy the compilation for itself!

Non-Music Shit / Re: Movies I've been watching
« on: July 04, 2017, 10:44:02 PM »

Have you ever watched DANGEROUS ENCOUNTER OF THE FIRST KIND (1980), one of the first movies directed by Tsui Hark
Oddly in the USA it has been marketed as an action film, but it's really a dark & nihilistic movie.  It was a punch in the face the first time I saw it

Based on a true event that shocked China at the time, it tells the story of three nerds who spend their times making DIY bombs and letting them in A theatre during a movie, exploding everything. Good way to have a good laugh. A disturbed and sadistic girl witnessed them killing one people by accident, and starts blackmailing them. It's diving into darkness and a cycle of ultraviolence with no return. Close to Clockwork Orange in the idea, but with a really sticky, gritty, oppressive atmosphere and dirty picture.

Fucking poppunk this tryhard shit already.

What do you mean by that? Trying hard for what exactly? It's kind of a stupid thing to say
I just make mixtapes I would enjoy listening to with all the different things I like and find interesting

Good to see some of you like them though
The last comp was taken down by youtube due to copyrights

NEONS Mixtape # 5 - SUMMER 2017 MIX Part II
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seRBpjFk1jQ&t=2582s

This one is particular. My boldest (or weirdest) mix so far in my opinion. I wanted to make the soundtrack of a hot summer night. The sunset. Taking it easy, chillin'. Dancing a bit and starting to get wild, drinking, popping pills like jelly beans. Feeling fucked up but feeling the vibe still, chicks on the sidewalk for a break. Entering a weirder, darker phase... back alley sex... Ups and downs, until dawn

It's a mix of mostly mainstream pop / dance club songs, with killer hip hop tunes, Alan Hawkshaw, The Sonics or the time when Brainbombs is fucking your mind. As well as interludes and various movie samples, adding a tainted side on these innocent singalongs.
Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did making it.
Please share if you do, or if you know people who could like it!
